I can see where you are going and yes it is a warning in a way, but we had a our own crisis in the Struel/Sharpe years and the madness that was Tony Petty's tenure. But we have learnt the hard way and as a result we have progressed at a measured pace and achieved the ultimate goal of Premier League Football, but the board has seen we need new investment to go to the next level, I would rather we did that in a measured way than go down the route that Cardiff went from Scam the man, The Riddler and now Agent Tan. Remember Cardiff have this sense of entitlement that because they are the 'Capital' then they must have a top class football team and they were going to do it by hook or by crook hence the first two mentioned being appointed and when Tan was brought in , we where already in the Premier League and that was the straw that broke the camels back , hence the rebrand and the hilarity since. I would much prefer to trust the board to do the best for the club in a considered manner than to be scrabbling around desperately for any kind of investment like they have done 44 miles up the road ,where they ended up boycotting a meaningless game or looking to an ex-hooligan and his mate for direction.

Do you honestly think we are looking to them two for direction Snork?

I'm still in disbelief at people like Gwyn saying things like "I couldn't care less if we were in pink as long as we're in the Premier League."

A football club is all about tradition. But in many ways if you focus solely on the fact of the colour change you miss the point. If it was done because the fans, the club, past legends wanted it that is one thing but for an arrogant owner who doesn't care nor understand the club's history to simply decide to do this on a whim is (or at least should've been seen as) a deeply personal attack on every Cardiff fan. It just shows his utter contempt for the supporters and the club's history. To talk about colour in a isolated sense completely misses the point hence why I'm sure the red lot kept doing this.

No,I would think that most sensible Cardiff fans would look at Anus and his friend with the same amount of contempt as Tan! But those two are the self-appointed fans leaders!

Right lets digest this a bit, me personally as I have already stated have never worried what colour people wear, sat next to many who have worn red, never understood it but it was their choice, as for you in a onesie? well probably would have made an exception with you and kept a wide berth.

I have told you that protests will force Tan out? Have I? Defended them yes and why not, fans need to pull together now. You say why not last season? there were protests as you well know but chose to forget, not to get Tan out but to get our colours back.

You say fans need a Media love in, well the club did the same to force the rebrand, you know as well as me certain people were portrayed in front of the cameras to put the point across. Vincent Tan gave his opinion on Xmas Day, why not a fans perspective on his message as anyone that walks in to our stadium will get the opinion that the fans are wearing different colours to their team. I don't care if he cuts back, don't think anyone does but we want our colours back, don't you?

I've no problem with people wearing blue, red, pink with yellow dots. It's people's choice. My point is as a form of protest aimed at trying to get Tan out, it;s as effective as a chocolate fireguard; having given the club money to get in.

Protests last season were minimal at best. Get the colours back? Tan's already been explicit that's not happening. Chanting for colours at 19:27, especially when the opposition is attacking, isn't any form of solution whatsoever. Bluebirds Unite certainly have/had a "Tan out" element.

The club forced the rebrand without media backing. Christ, the media agenda has always been Tan as the "evil foreigner"m backing Mackay fully only to later go very silent. Did the club force certain idiots who do not speak for the overwhelming majority to go in front of the cameras or was it the case lazy media looked up the usual rent-a-quotes?

I far prefer blue. No question about that. I'm just realistic about it given it will not happen whilst Tan remains at the club - and there's no guarantee any buyer would revert the change; hence protests I'm afraid are utterly futile in that they will not affect things one iota. Allow people to vent their feelings? Sure. Tan will not wake up one day and think "eh, maybe those pesky fans are right".

I still maintain a significant number of those protesting now would not be doing so if we were still in the Prem, if it had been announced ST prices would be frozen again... whilst playing in red.

Those who made their protest at the time were ignored by the vast majority, indeed mocked by some of those now protesting. I disagree with boycotting years ago, but if there was any chance of it making a difference that was the time.

It was not planned.

A few chavs gobbing off does not a planned protest make.

Big effect on the gate? C'mon. Lower league opposition, Friday night game with the game televised, having been playing like shoite recently.
Plenty of people I know don't attend the early stages of either cup and haven't for years - are you claiming they are planned protesters?

Bournemouth league cup was what 6.4k, was that also a planned protest?

If we'd drawn say Man Yoo, the attendance would have been a lot higher and you know it.

Why should I boycott? The time for protest was years ago, not now. Situation is too far down the line for protests to have any major effect.

Protests were minimal last season? then you say Bluebirds Unite have/had 'Tan out' element. Well most of their activity was last season as this season they have
not needed to. Because Tan has said the colours are not changing doesn't mean we doff our cap and say thank you. He knows the feeling in the ground that's why he hasn't shown his face this season, surely he would like to see how his team are doing? Couldn't keep him away last season, or is he like the some of our fans, Premiership or nothing?

Tan was only made the Pantomime Villain during last season, the rebrand happened the season before and as for did the club go looking for the idiots that gave the 'rent a quotes'? Well actually they did go looking for them, because when the announcement of the rebrand and the about turn these unelected people were invited down to the club and the Media were outside waiting for their reaction, surely you remember that? Now no ordinary fans were invited, well maybe one or two, but these high profile guys which the majority of us got no time for.

The club will have to do something to entice people to renew s/t's as with the present climate if prices take a serious hyke so will their sales.

It's never to late to want your tradition back, yes it should have been done sooner and we have already had a discussion on why that didn't take off and the ones that were doing the shouting and threatening at the time have gone very quiet now.

BluebirdsUnite died off - or more accurately, Sian Brunson was co-opted onto Trust board in a cynical attempt to try to increase the size of the Trust membership. I've never said to doff our cap, the point being that it's an exercise in futility as it isn't going to change Tan's mind one bit - and the fact remains that Tan rightly points out the protests were nowhere near as noisy as they are now last season when we had Prem football.

The club at no point "invited" fans down. Media contacted said fans because those are the ones they always contact for quotes. Totally agree about the worth of the "high profile fans"; Gwyn seems to be in hiding these days.

It wouldn't surprise me if ST prices were either held the same or had at most a very slight increase. Even so, since it appears action is being taken to reduce outgoings, overall a very small number of "non renewals" may have no material effect.

My point though about the rebranding is what has really changed that makes getting the colours back imperative *now* and not last season? Assuming Tan was willing to be reasonable and listen, what conclusive argument could be made now that wasn't available last season? So it's very much a case of p***ing in the wind. Fans last night weren't protesting to get the colours back, it was very much "Tan out", with no thought or answer as to what would then follow.

Wonder if Leeds fans will be protesting to get their pre-white colours back, after all they changed colour on a whim of Revie ;)

this could take real effect if they now announced that they will Boycott any 4th round tie irrespective of the opposition

Not that I can see.

The stuff in the ground seemed to be 16-20 yr olds with Tan out kinda stuff more than anything. Think someone was claiming stewards have banned them now from games over it, railing about their freedom of speech being infringed; Steve Borley pointed out 4 were banned for various offences - one of whom was already on a banning order.

The only thing any of the mooted protests would really do would be to give Tan a way out without losing face - "those ungrateful people have upset me so much I had to sell" - but without a concrete buyer or deal in place, it's pretty much moot.

I suspect we'll be in a holding pattern for a few seasons, cutting costs. If by some miracle we did go up this season, I'd be surprised if Tan didn't sell ASAP.

If you're going to be accurate Red, get Sian's name right, it's Branson. I don't care what you call her but i'm sure she would. Calling her cynical? or is that you?

'The club at no point 'invited' fans down', again you are wrong, the rebrand was first mooted after the play off semi with West Ham, during that summer ( can't give a specific date) but certain fans were invited down to the club to discuss the rebrand, I can name names if you want through pm or if you want why don't you pm TLG on our board as he was present and will probably give you chapter and verse. Now that meeting did not go well as one lady was reduced to tears but that's another issue.

Non renewals might have no material effect? Hope you're right but I think we will suffer a big hit.

What has changed this year? Well we have always had the blue shirts haven't we, just seems they grown no end, I struggle to see a red shirt now, how about you. We had protests last season but no more that what's planned for this. I think Vincent Tan himself has swayed a lot of people, his statement last season of there only being a small minority opposed to the rebrand when we know there were more, but me personally it was his message Xmas Day for us to toe the line so to speak. As for Friday night, I don't think you can use that game as an example.

Never cared a flying one for Leeds and never will.

I detest cardiff city football club but feel for their reasonable fans.

The posts from scooby and reddy show what can happen when someone with big money takes over a club. Once that happens you can't get rid of them as easily as we got rid of petty and his gang.

Something that we should all keep in mind.

Yeah, ok, there's a consortium.

No, really.

Whoever stitched "nuclearblue" up has done a fantastic job. After all, I'm sure Hammam knows the Souters well, knows Mackintosh well. Then again, he's got a source in Malaysia too according to the latest update. I can only hope he genuinely dyslexic looking at the spelling in that one.

Apologies to Sian. No, I wasn't calling her cyncial, I was pointing out the Trust suddenly being interested in her was a cynical attempt to get BU members into the Trust.

Fans were invited down for the rebrand, I agree. Weren't invited down to speak to the media about it though - afaik media interest was after that. Media probably knew about the meeting - well it was on social media. Wasn't hard to guess who would be there. Totally agree about the actions of Gwyn, though I can't recall if certain people called him out on it at the time or if they waited till later.

TLG? Oh yeah, I remember. That was when the Trust refused to agree with the march against Ridsdale ( mostly because they didn't organise it ), instead attacking Paul Guy via an advert reminding him of his "duties" as a director based upon info they'd received from the SC. Ironic, really, given the Trust refused to transparently state what the info was or how it was obtained.

I'd agree there are more blue shirts this season than last. What I guess I'm getting at is that none of the planned protests, this season, last season, next season will achieve the goal many want, which is Tan Out. Hence from that perspective they are futile protests. In terms of venting their feelings, obviously it won't be futile.

From Tan's perspective, he made it plain he wanted red. He's been consistent on that all along. The fact the protests in the past were incredibly minor would indicate to him that the increased protests now are sour grapes. People wanted the money, refused to accept the quid pro quo. At the time of the rebrand, a small minority protested at the time. Many kept an open mind, a minority wanted the cash at any cost for their season in the Prem. Indeed, if Tan hadn't spent the way he did, just kept the club ticking over people would then be whining because we'd not got to the Prem.

I just don't see any way, shape or form Tan will change the colour back whilst he remains at the club. I just think there are better things that can be done than banging heads against a brick wall.

Yeah well we are just going round in circles here, I don't think spending big got us into the Prem League, a good team ethos got us there. I never did say the Media invited them though, I said the club but lets not split hairs.

Maybe protests will not get Tan out but we need for him to take notice, he is a proud man and any negativity would irritate him. His non appearance this season must be a sign that either, he's lost interest or he doesn't want to be humiliated in front the cameras in his own stadium. I agree he only wanted red but he waited a season before laying that on us but he did say he would compromise after this season which he has gone back on.

One thing that I totally agree with is that I hope this mess doesn't get ugly.

Care to provide some evidence as to the wild claim a "boycott" was planned by the masses?

i assume you've surveyed every non-attendee to be able to attribute their non-attendance correctly, eh?

Wild claim?

Here are some fans explaining why they did not support the boycott... Hence there was a boycott..... This is hard work!!!

Team ethos, but we did spend something like 15m that season.

Tan has noticed. That's why we're going the route we're going down. Doesn't feel the need to attend, knows he'll receive abuse and has received abuse, doesn't need the hassle. So cut costs ( Slade obviously cheaper than Ole, reduce squad headcount, cut squad wage bill ), keep the club at best ticking over. Hope gainst hope for promotion; if not, well, costs cut so try to improve the financial state prior to sale.

The only way this gets ugly will be if the protests ramp up dramatically. Let's be honest, we have some incredibly thick sub-chavs associated with the club. there's the muppets who read AAMB and absolutely believe the crap NuclearBlue et al post even though even Oldjack can spot the gaping logic holes. Tan doesn't have to do anything more than he is doing right now; wouldn't expect him to. People want to get more aggressive, well then I'd not be surprised if Tan made things a lot worse.

Poll: 94th minute; Medel does Charlie Adam, causing a career ending injury. Do you..
