Ignorance is not Bliss but it sure is Funny Written by Watchman on Monday, 18th Aug 2014 11:01 So surely as first games of the season go it does not get much better. An away win at the home of the 20 times Champions of the EPL. All the pre match nerves, all the shouting at the telly as if the players can hear you. They all seemed so worthwhile a superb start for Garry and the club and good on them and long may it continue. The thing that really pleased me was it was so like the journey from the bottom of league 2 all the way to where we are now. It did not matter who the opponents were, Rochdale, Oxford, Tranmere, Derby why are we losing to the likes of Swansea, we should never lose to the likes of Swansea! Home or away it mattered not a jot comments from outside from people who do not know and were far too lazy to find out anything about @swansofficial. Which of course is exactly the attitude which led to one of the finest midfield players to have a far from great opening week as a pundit! Step forward Paul Scholes in both written and spoken media he more than made the point of our impending relegation how' we' will have an easy, regulation win agst Swansea at OT. So as I sat through what can only be described as BT's myopic coverage on Saturday morning, minute after minute, United Legend after United Legend. There was only one team there to play football on and on it went until suddenly Jake Humphries as if prodded by his own consciousness asked the question that seemed to bamboozle them all? Do you think Swansea will have enjoyed being under the radar this week with all the talk about Utd and LVG, well! Jakey lad! head hit nail son! Not one of them especially Mr Scholes had even bothered to check what players had joined our merry band stumped for words and the subject soon got round to Bony and where he would end up. Superb telly! Then the moment arrived that made it all worthwhile. THE TEAMSHEETS! To say that the penny dropped would be like saying a Mammoth had stood on your head, the ashen confused look of well paid pundits suddenly having their light bulb moment and suddenly realising do you know what, this might not be as easy as we thought. Mamanamamamamanaman was the first to break ranks and uttered the words 'I did not realise how strong and balanced Swansea look'. That's right Stevie La and to think Utd were not the only ones on Saturday who did not have a full squad to choose from! Scholesy because that is what we can all call him now, cos we all know him?' So Scholesy why did you not do so many interviews as a player'? came the question? Perhaps because he is not the best thinker in the world! to see him stand on live telly and see confusion and fear go through a man was a little homo erotic but joyful as he fumbled and tried to find words to make him look a little genned up. He may well be right we may well go down but as my dad always told me 'Do your homework' It was fantastic to be written off, ignored, disrespected it was like the old days when we had to fight for everything, it made us edgier and louder and prouder, it made us stand tall and think 'you know what lets see how good you are' Every minute that passed every elbow missed, every late challenge made by a Utd player just made me think this is how it should be we are there to compete this is what WE fought for all those years ago. It was for all those that are sadly no longer with us and were a massive part of things at the time and the past! Long let those that do now know us underestimate us! let us keep feet to the floor and a ready ironic outlook to life and we will not go far wrong. The team will get better and the squad will get stronger as the season goes on but we won't be the ignorant ones we will do our homework and respect everyone.
