Saints Set To Go For Ajax Striker In January Monday, 28th Sep 2015 09:11 Despite Saints having more striking options than most, we still get linked with every young striker in Europe, this time battling with Stoke & Bournemouth. Saints are apparently looking to sign Ajax striker Anwar El Ghazi in the January transfer window, despite having five international strikers on their books at the moment. El Ghazi is able to play on the right wing or upfront, as made 55 appearances for the Dutch giants, scoring 17 goals along with 10 assists. Despite his name he is actually Dutch although of Morrocan extracton, he has been capped at every level up to U21 and he has just been called up to the full squad for the next round of matches, with Danny Blind believed to be keen to secure his services at full international level with the Morrocon's sniffing around. Also in the frame are Stoke City and Bournemouth, Stoke like Saints would see El Ghazi as one for the future and that could perhaps swing it for Bournemouth who after the loss of leading scorer Callum Wilson for possibly the rest of the season are now desperate for a striker and almost certainly they will have to buy in January. El Ghazi might prefer a club who can offer him almost guaranteed first team football rather than a more squad player role, however it could be that the Koeman factor might swing it and the player himself might take a long term view that being able to develop at a club like Saints would be better for his career rather than a short term view of first team football immediately.
