There's only one Keano Wednesday, 3rd Aug 2011 12:48 by Col
Forget Roy, give Robbie a miss, Dale have signed goalkeeper Jake Kean on a season long loan from Blackburn Rovers.
The 6'4 shot stopper comes highly recommended and it appears to be something of a coup that we have managed to secure this deal. Dale boss Steve Eyre admitted that Kean has been his number one target to become his number one since his appointment, and that a number of clubs were interested in his services.
He had a successful spell with Hartlepool last season, and if comments on their forum are to be believed, it would appear that we've got a good 'un: " "Worth ten points start for you if you get him. You wont be disappointed if he performs like he did for us - a real star in the making" and "Jake Kean was quality and a seemingly a great lad as well, I'm sure he'll do well. I'm amazed he's not been signed up higher than League One to be honest. I thought a Championship club would have snapped him up, in fact Blackburn must have some good keepers"
In joining Dale on loan from Blackburn Rovers, he will be stepping in the fine footsteps of Frankie Fielding and Matt Dickens.

Please look after him for us, I beleive he is highly regarded at The Rovers, but yes, as stated in the article abovem, he has Paul Robinson and Mark Bunn in front of him in the pecking order, and they are both class acts, and we've just let a couple of decent keepers go... All the best to you for the season, and keep us posted if you can. Thanks Arte et labore

I thought you couldn't have 24 hr recalls on long term loans? Am sure the old rule was that you could only have them in months 2 and 3 in short term loans.

That was my understanding too. Either we are both wrong, its a typo, or they've changed the rules! Im sure Eyre will have other irons in the fire should he be recalled

done a bit of googling, and it would appear that the rules I stated are correct, but goalkeepers are exempt from it and can always be recalled.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Bristol City Polls |
