My name is Lucas Thursday, 30th Jun 2011 20:09 by Col Dale were joined on the first day of training by former Preston and Leeds goalkeeper David Lucas, who links up with Steve Eyre's men on a trial basis. Lucas is a keeper who will be well known to football fans, after a career that has seen him chalk up over three hundred first team appearances, the vast majority of which have been at this level or higher. The 33 year old will be probably best known for his time with Preston where he spent ten years as a player, and was picked by England at U-21 level. Following his time with the Lilywhites, he had spells with Leeds, Sheffield Weds and Barnsley before spending the last two years with Swindon Town. He was released by relegated Swindon at the end of the season, after making twenty three appearances for them last season. Dale have been without a first team keeper since the release of Owain Fon Williams at the end of 2010-11. We were linked with a move for City's Columbian international keeper David Gonzales, but he opted for a move to Aberdeen instead.
