Getting the plane to land at it's 50 points destination is one thing. Avoiding the temptation when you get there to turn off the engine, put on the shades and slap on the sun tan lotion, rather than continuing on to another destination is another.
We haven't had too many sides who have come remotely close to earning 72 points over the years. Those that did were far better sides than our current one. [Post edited 12 Dec 16:12]

I think the consensus is that the English language continues to evolve. As to the Shakespeare reference, I'm sure I'm not alone when I read his plays in school and couldn't understand what various characters were saying, without guidance from my teacher. It'll be no different when future scholars will research social media posts from our current generation and try to get someone to help them with a translation. |

Like everyone, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Clive's report and my mood has brightened over the past couple of days.
Late on Wednesday night I received a WhatsApp on a friend's group pointing out that Liverpool had won 17 of their last 19 matches. I replied saying that from the beginning of September until now, QPR had played 13 matches and didn't win any. Also, their centre forward had made 19 appearances and hadn't scored. But all that had changed now, and what's seldom is wonderful.
By the way, what does a keeper have to do to earn a 9 from Clive? I thought he was really outstanding. |

I know we're all feeling a little deflated right now. Only the dregs fall to the very bottom of the league table. The worst of the worst in the Championship end up there and it's tough to accept that reality.
But can I ask whoever runs the Prediction League to snap out of their depression. You have had an international break to help you recuperate and there is a job to be done. Can you please update the Prediction League table to incorporate that last couple of matches. |

The result was never in doubt. When the fourth best team in the world plays a competitive home match against a team ranked #63, there will only be one outcome. You could see from the body language of the Irish team after the first goal was conceded, that they had nothing left to give, especially with only 10 on the pitch. They had run themselves into the ground by that point. Changes could have been made then, but it wouldn't have changed the result.
The question I'd be asking is how on earth did England end up playing in the second tier of the competition? |
