Ings was great for us. I thought he would be lazy when we signed him, but he had a great work ethic, put a shift in and had the ability to get first time shots off, left foot or right and usually on target. Unlike Che who usually needed a touch to try to control it, a touch to actually control it, a touch or 2 to try to get it onto his right foot and a touch to shoot !! He could have stayed on and eventually have been included in that Top 10 Greats Thread, but he chose (not unexpectedly) to double his pay at Villa. They played him regularly until Emery took over and it was clear he didn't want him. I think West Ham took him and pay him well, but they had and still have players that are deemed better than him. It is clear that he is over the hill, but can probably do a job - especially from the bench. After their game at Chelsea the other night, West Ham boss Potter was saying that they struggled through with so many injuries up front, so they had to sign Ferguson on loan from Brighton. Fulkrup, Antonio, Summerville, Paquetta and Alvarez were all out and I thought to myself, Ings is still only on the bench !! There must be a reason for this !! |

Keegan was only with us for 2 seasons, before buggering off and dropping down a division to join Newcastle. His 1st season with us was injury prone, so probably played two thirds of the games and scored about 12 goals , but his 2nd season was great and he scored 26 league goals. 1 good season doesn't make him one of OUR greatest players, but perhaps when considering his whole career, he was one of the greatest players to play for us. |

With Sulemana and Dibling coming back from injury, it is no real surprise that they are on the bench. Welington plays on the left and will probably have to man mark Hutchinson today. At least we seem to have a few more potential game changers to come off the bench today. |

We had a chance to do that at their place last season Kingsland. 1 down - Baz beaten at his near post 2-1 up - Adams and AArm 2-2 through THB legs Bree sent off Conceded the winner in 97th minute to a bloke virtually on the ground with 5 or 6 Saints players around him, just watching FFS Even if we go 2-0 up, I won't be confident !! :-) |

Hi there and welcome A few alternative questions then !! :-) How long have you been supporting Saints ? Do you go to games ? Preferred area of the stadium ? We are quite a mixed but likeable bunch on here, as you will no doubt find out... |

My Villa supporting mate said we've been playing him in the wrong position. Apparently his preference is to play wide left and cut in onto his right foot - like he did against Liverpool in the Cup. The trouble is we have experimented with BB Diaz, Sulemana, Fraser and A Arm in this position with little success bar the odd game, so perhaps we should give Archer a go next ? |

He already tried it !! Moved to Chelsea in the summer of 2022 I believe, but couldn't settle, so returned to Saints just a couple of months later. |

It's all a load of bollox So many inconsistencies throughout the game and the Prem. The same fouls are treated differently in different games and sometimes differently even the same games. You can half see why the Arsenal Red was given, but then why didn't the Wolves player getting his 2nd yellow, get a straight red ? It was far worse and more violent than the Arsenal player's 'take 1 for the team' trip. VAR was supposed to help get to the correct decisions, but all it really does is promote someone else's point of view, creates massive hold ups in games and can still get crucial decisions wrong. It has become a huge joke and other countries laugh at our inept handling of all things VAR. We have really had some terrible decisions go against us this season and it is not just VAR, because in certain games our players seem to get singled out for yellow cards, yet the opposition players doing the same fouls go unpunished. West Ham was the prime example (look at the stats ffs !!), plus Fernandes getting booked at the weekend, yet Newcastle did far worse and got zero cards. Roll on next season and no VAR ......mind you we might need it for 2 games next season, if they manage to stay up !! :-) |

There was a thread about this last Thursday or Friday - he's gone back for the rest of the season |

He can go.... Jack of all positions, master of none. He has been played in many positions, but doesn't seem comfortable in any. Scored a few important goals, but is hardly prolific. He seems noticeably slower this season, despite losing his dreads, perhaps because it is the Prem where everyone is faster and stronger. May do a job for us in the Champ next season, but get rid now or in the summer whilst we can get a fee for him and the Dane can fill in this season and Shea Charles can take over next season |
| Forum Reply | Sulemane injured so not available for Newcastle at 18:30 23 Jan 2025
Predictive text issues ? His name is Kamaldeen Sulemana There was a mention of him on the Sky Sports News transfer headlines yesterday, saying there was interest in him from Netherlands and Italy on a loan deal, but it then went on to say that we wanted a sale, not a loan. |
| Forum Reply | Is Ramsdale the keeper he was or is he simply behind an utterly pathetic defence at 13:51 21 Jan 2025
Lets not forget the countless (usually unforced) errors our team has made this season, that have directly led to the opposition scoring. gifting them possession poor passing poor clearances the giving of stupid penalties Keeper fvck ups ....the list goes on an on. MOTD recently said it was 17 of these errors, but actually it is more, because their analysis is not as harsh or damning as mine !! :-) |

I don't believe that Manning has the pace and positional awareness to man-mark a player with the speed and skill of Diallo. Taylor doesn't feature regularly enough and at 30, probably doesn't have the pace, but perhaps has experience on his side. Larios may be the answer if anyone has even seen him this season !! KWP was the probably the lesser of all the evils and him playing on the left at least allowed us to shoehorn 3 right backs into our starting XI. The trouble is, even if we had stopped Diallo, United on paper at least, have plenty of other players who could have done something similar. We should have killed the game off in the 1st half. |

Skates won't have made it back to the Prem by then either. 15 years and counting already. |
| Forum Reply | Awful subs at 13:20 17 Jan 2025
Smallbone has (thankfully) only featured in 3 league games this season, 2 of those as sub, 1 of which was last night. I think the rest of the time he has been injured. Juric was therefore giving him a chance to impress, bringing him on to sure up the midfield and hold out for the win. Shame he didn't use his Swansea FA Cup appearance as a template of what to expect. Slow, poor passing, offered little, gifted Swans a great chance. Goals change games. Last night we failed to take our excellently created chances in the first half (Sula x 2, Dibs x 2, Fernandes x2), failed to go further ahead in the 2nd half (Sula), then conceded and we all knew what was going to happen after that. THB put the icing on the cake for the Man U diver. The positives were that we played very well for an hour at Old Trafford (but ok, who doesn't these days) and created some great chances, oh and scored our first goal from a corner this season !! |
