This long extended thread began a while ago now. I didn't have the intention of writing some kind of blog. It just happened. I would have paused it last summer but a couple of very interesting followers made themselves known and l thought if you guys are actually reading this l had better carry on for a while. I'll trundle along for a while then if that is ok with folk. It must be about 22 years ago that a literary agent in London said 'You should write a blog'. I think my reply was 'What is a blog?' She explained it, best she could and l was at least twenty years late following her advice. Our conversation went something like this. Me - 'I don't consider myself a writer, do you?' Her - 'Not a high calibre one no, but the secret is to interest an audience and you don't need to be especially good at the craft of writing to do that. So, it's either that some people find a bit of interest here and there across 'Tigers' or it's some kind of self harm and mental torture that has them scrolling through for hours in the outer reaches of Earth's surface. PS. WHITE LIES playing at The Castle Park in August supporting THE SMASHING PUMPKINS! I need to keep up my daily intake of tablets to see if l can last that long. Had a dream in the early hours. Switch off now if of a nervous disposition. Body part spillage from a massacre being deposited in a building where l was hanging out. It was a vivid gruesome sight. I looked in a mirror. My face was white. Like a mime artist in Paris 1931. I had no eyes. Just holes. No nose. Holes No mouth. |

The trial for the murder of Victoria Hall ( the second one!!! ) is around a year away and if l am still alive and kicking l will endeavour to share some information l have on 'Tigers' ( should it last that long ) after the drama that is likely to unfold at The Old Bailey. I did consider sharing some information on here but I've run it past an associate and it's a little too close for comfort. We have some new followers! ðððððð |

Two unrelated snippets on a Thursday morning in the UK....l hope to bring some very interesting background into the Vicky Hall murder case in 1999 that l think will be ok to share on here - but l will take advice before uploading - if it is case sensitive l may be able to explain it in another way. And secondly, and l doubt this will be of much interest to anyone, my kitchen is having to be removed in the coming days to allow work to begin on my sinking property. I still like challenges in life! ððð |

Steve Wright will appear at The Old Bailey on 2nd February, 2026 to face trial for the murder of Victoria Hall, aged 17. Victoria vanished after a night out at The Bandbox nightclub in Felixstowe in 1999. Victoria's body was discovered in water in similar circumstances and surroundings to Gemma Adams and Tania Nicol who were the first two victims of Wright in The Suffolk Serial Murders. The Ipswich murders occured seven years after that of Victoria Hall. TBC |

Seems like Colchester United have realised their spelling error of the player's name but haven't noticed the other mistakes in the piece. |

I agree that Bloomfield and Garner were very good appointments but the club was in decline throughout most of their time here. I can only speak from my own perspective of what l expect from myself and any music or business associations that l am involved with in my twilight years and that is ambition. To my mind, and l know l will be in a small minority here - but if Colchester United miss out on the play off's in what l consider to be a relatively poor Division Two, then l consider that a failure. I shouldn't mind betting the Cowley brothers may have the same perspective on that....and l did meet them and sensed the same some months ago. I doubt very much Danny and Nicky would be satisfied floating around in mid table at this level for too long. And yeah, l do admit to being very harsh on matters such as this. |

Back in the sixties neighbours would speak to one another across low fences in the front and back garden. Some of those conversations would often last over an hour. The gardens had flowers in the front and vegetables in the back - not all of them, but probably a majority. I can't quite recall when the trend was to put up high fences and shut out the neighbours - probably when the front gardens were concreted over to allow a car to be parked. Then it was two. And then three. I go past people's houses at night. Look in the window. The TV is on but many of them are distracted by their phones, tablets, gadgets and the rest. ( Including myself at this very moment, keying this in with my former employer's on the television screen delivering more bad news ). Some people can't even manage to butter a slice of toast. Get Deliveroo on the case. Or Just Eat. I remember a time when most of us would clean our own cars. I still do. I cut the grass Some of the dudes around here can't even be bothered with that. AstroTurf the back garden. And the front. [Post edited 26 Feb 7:07]

I have BBC FOUR ( TV ) on featuring an interview with Harry H Corbett from, l would guess, around 1970ish. Something struck me about his very interesting delivery of speech - it reminded me of some footage l once used in a film featuring former Colchester United manager Benny Fenton. When he was explaining something Harry would often follow it up with 'You see'. Benny Fenton did likewise. Maybe it was the mode of speech through the 60's. Either way, it's quite uncommon terminology to be used these days. Speech trends obviously evolve through time. I recall several phrases my mother often came out with that are historic now. 'Oh, my giddy aunt' was one of them. How very strange. I think she picked that up from her mother. As l was around six at the time l used to wonder what particular aunt she may have been referring to - and try and imagine the woman spinning herself around to get in that state. TBC. |

It's activity, action, activity and action at M&T!Âē Did the previous owners have the slightest bit of interest in the club? Four years of nothing at both Colchester United and Maldon & Tiptree until, the Cowley brothers came in - just in time at The Jobserve, and the Drewitt Barlow's took over M&T! Things are on the up at both club's - and not before time. |

The Maiden thing has really exploded into life overnight. I am in touch with musician's, radio stations, music magazines and fans from all corners of the world. Credit to Phantom Management for taking the band on tours across the planet and especially to South America where the interaction, feedback and enthusiasm is so warm and energising. STOP PRESS Contact from Croatia, France, Germany, Chile, Argentina and Scotland too! Many thanks to Rough Trade in London, Nottingham and New York too. [Post edited 25 Feb 16:58]

I think it is Kuffour too ...you would think the club would know how to spell his name. |

The Gazette has 'KUFFOUR' The club have 'KAFFOUR' I think The Gazette has it correct. |

Just read the latest post on there relating to the signing of Kuffour. Well, not sure if l wasn't right the first time....is it Kuffour or Kaffour? There are several spelling errors that include that of a country name. I am sure l make spelling and grammatical errors of my own on here but l do know how to spell the name of a country that is featured in the daily news. Let's hope the club read this and correct the piece. STOP PRESS Well, l have just had to correct the player's surname but at least l proof read and discovered my error.... ðĪŠðĪŠðĪŠ [Post edited 25 Feb 12:49]

Now something that l only saw an image of on Saturday during the filming session related to the work with Iron Maiden. I think the picture was handed to me with the producer saying 'Have you ever seen this?'. And there it was.....some of my work painted on the wall in the home of Kurt Cobain in Seattle. He was a fan of the group. And there are always the strangest of links with these things. Courtney Love released her 'Dirty Blonde' book around the same time that l released 'Dirty Blonde at the Cash Machine' during 2006. Kurt Cobain was also painting the Iron Maiden logo ( that l was the first person in the world to see ) on skateboards for friends in Seattle. It came as a shock and a thrill. I'm not sure if the band members of Maiden know about this. [Post edited 24 Feb 18:07]

And back into music auction mode....we had a shift in on Sunday who collated the LP's by artist...so all l have to do is pick up say four Joy Division albums, or eight Pearl Jam LP's or 20 Bowie albums or 20 by PJ Harvey etc....and scribble the minimum description and price them all....someone else will photograph them and the office girls will key in the copy from my handwriting. My part has to be fast as l have my dog with me....he has been good but my shifts are condensed into around three hours. One of my colleagues is going through hi - fi systems, mixing desks and guitars....the lion's share of the vinyl records will form the first ever timed vinyl sale that Reeman Dansie have undertaken. This will take place in about 6 weeks time and go online where it will be visible around the entire world. Every vinyl record or boxed set in this collection appears to be mint condition and unplayed. Then there is the Star Wars collection. Someone else will do that - but l do have 300 soundtrack albums to process with some connected to Sci fi. Some of the other artist groups lotted today included Interpol, Brad, The Who, Beatles, Gossip, Goldfrapp, Iron Maiden, Guns n' Roses, Silverfish, Cake, Led Zeppelin etc. xx There are many obscure artists from Seattle, and some ultra rare limited editions. We will be doing that after the next sale. |

Evening dog walks last week Monday. Went past Star Anglia Hotel ( think it's called that ) in North Station Road, Colchester. It was around 7pm. Took the path down the side. There is a window open and a couple - a male and female appear to be snorting from a hand within or possibly smoking something. Tuesday - about the same time. There are four individuals at the window and three of them have their heads and most of their necks in the window. As best they can. Wednesday around 7.30. Just two of them tonight in the window but the Manager or possible owner of the establishment is watching them and looking concerned. Thursday 7.15 There are four police cars in attendance and the police are smashing down one of the doors at the back of the hotel. A lot of shouting and screaming from within. Friday - around 8pm One female is half in the window, possibly trying to climb in. Couldn't make it last night. Tonight, around 6.45. A white male is walking away from the window and shouting obscenities at passer's by and jumps in front of a taxi coming down North Station Road that just manages to swerve around him. He gets back onto the pavement and starts a crazy dance move before falling into the gutter. [Post edited 23 Feb 22:21]

The Iron Maiden debut album lyrics have been subject to scrutiny to confirm the most likely contributors....this is a project l have dipped in and out of over the past six years. This element may or may not get included in the content of the film as there have been some serious legal issues surrounding this. I saw something yesterday that reinforced my belief that Dennis Wilcock the Maiden vocalist during 1977 was the most likely source for writing or co-writing / contributing to four particular tracks on the debut album and that he came up with the titles for those songs. I was shown the ad's he had written for the band that were published in Melody Maker in 1977 / 78. There were some unique word combinations that mirrored his style of copy writing and lyrics. Some of these ads had appeared in scrapbooks belonging to band members and some were found and copied at The British Library for background info. I'm not sure if they were part of the evidence to be presented in court around five years ago but they could have made quite a difference in pursuit of an estimated ÂĢ2.6 million pay out for the writer. |

The first hour of this morning was taken up by dismantling the wall of images l had constructed as a backdrop for yesterday's Q&A section relating to the Iron Maiden logo /.name style origin. I wasn't briefed to do this as l thought we might have done some of it on location but it was just as well l did as we used it exactly as constructed. These kind of Q&A's often require quite a number of takes. We got many away at the first attempt, some at the second and a couple at the third. When someone asks a question that requires a two or three sentence reply it's virtually impossible to repeat it....l would have been prepared to have at least five attempts at some of the questions because they raised some quite emotional reactions that l was not expecting. 'The first cut is the deepest' and the first answer will be in a raw form but will likely carry the purest reaction. |

A follow up to the previous post. The research team who are working on the Iron Maiden logo origin are also in touch with George Hardie who designed the Led Zeppelin debut album sleeve together with Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd among others. This is part of a wider project about record sleeve design and branding. It's been a fun day.....and doesn't feel in the least bit like work - which is just as well as none of us are getting paid and supply food and refreshments for the most part. |
