URBAN WEREWOLF

This is a first draft....or the opening sequence to one.

It is memory and dream based so won't make much sense ( which is my intention ).

Urban werewolf
On the rampage
The precinct
Your Babylon
The subway
The Hanging Gardens
Akkadiem street talk
From the Third Dynasty of Ur
You engage
In malpractice
Fare dodging
Petty theft
Proudly stating
'I am twenty five per cent
L E S B I A N
Too hot to handle!'

The all too familiar pose
Sitting
Back against a burning wall
With a fixation
On pixelated images
Of Sharon Tate
Hole gouged in face
Jaw line slashed
Pregnant body
Drenched
Blood red
Manson #Satantic cat call
Sexy Sadie on the ranch
Dancing on the Helter Skelter

Step into my dream
Maiden Lane
Summer Seventy Six
Sneak me in
Through a side door
Of the Royal Opera House
Around 3am
Let's go back stage
Sit on the boards a while
The building creeks
Costumes sleep
Ghostly figures leap
From a painted back drop
Take the stage
And the orchestra plays

We met at midnight
You never said your name
Led me away
And l felt
This overwhelming compulsion
To eat you
Sink my teeth
Into your flesh
Deep
Below the surface
Of your being
So we travel
Through time zones
A semi in Woking
And you put on
The Stereo MC's
And it's
'Deep down and dirty'
The soundtrack of our lives
Play fight scratch bite
A rite to passage?

Then that cursory glance
I want to draw blood
Spit you out
Across the skyline
And you crash
Into the fifties wardrobe
In your fishnet body suit

Then in the play park
It's - 'Mummy Mummy look up in the sky'
But mummy is face timing
And the chance just passes her by
Miriam was in the kitchen
Saw an Angel
In a swirl of mist
Wiped her eyes
Took a second glance

But
Sometimes in this life
You only get one chance

The birth of Iron Maiden
at 22:24 14 Dec 2024

We are explaining the origination of the Iron Maiden logo with filming on location beginning in January or February.

I have been checking some exchanges we have had recently and can confirm that the letters that made up the master logo were initially traced out for position to allow spaceing for the logo to be stencil sprayed onto equipment and speakers etc.

Even Steve Harris appears to have no recall of this. Nor Dave Murray as far as l know.

It's possible that a mainstream television company may pick up on this. Most of the interest is coming from South America.

This is a very small part of a very big story but essential that millions of Maiden fans know what happened in June 1977.

A little add on to the tech revolution.

During 2005 l was in the company of a band - Death in Vegas in London and we were discussing how they had used a number of guest vocalists on a recent album ( Scorpio Rising ).

The ISDN sound file mode had been around for a while at the time but l was very much off pace on it's capability.

One of the questions l put to them was 'What was it like working with Liam Gallagher?'

They said 'Oh, we hadn't met him at the time, sent him a demo over ISDN and he sent back one example of the lead vocal which was perfect and it went straight onto the track'.

They used the same mode of recording with Iggy Pop too who was in New York and he kindly gave them six variations of the vocal to select from.

COVID created an even more concentrated time portal for creatives and musicians to experiment and that practice is even more prevalent now.

Exciting but also troubled times..

Hello Phil, your daughter in law's use of AI is a perfect example. Some people from our generation may be reluctant to delve into AI capability.

The bullet points aspect is of interest because l was briefed ( pre AI ) to write a simplistic outline of Ian Brown's ( former Stones Roses's ) career by an American artist management team for a US audience - that being a little different from a British audience.

He said 'Just do it as a list of bullet points', which is what l did in 2006. I don't think AI was being used in '06 but the American rational for written work interested me.

My associates, who l met up with on Thursday looked quite perplexed when l attempted to explain how you can make a soundtrack by just keying the words into pop up boxes.

I sent demo copies of the work to several record company owners and even they couldn't believe how the work had been created without humans in a recording studio.

I should add though that l went through quite a long process to find a voice that suited the work. The female voice from Ukraine was perfect and l ended up writing for her voice at times.

I have been writing non stop this year as anyone who follows this thread will be aware.

As you rightly point out - copywriting is most definitely something that is available through AI - this is the most incredible step forward.

A few of us dinosaur creatives had a seasonal meet up yesterday.

It is not just me who misses the vibe and energy of days long past....one of our group is doing creative and design work at no cost to keep his mind active.

For my part l was quite pleased to report that l have written one million words in a calendar year and that l have experimented with a number of AI packages - something none of my compatriots have attempted as yet.

The staff who were serving us must have thought we had dropped off another planet as the terminology / speak we engage in still is alien to the new breed.

The seventies and eighties was a golden era in advertising but l wish l could start it all again in the 'now' because the advances in tech would make our work much easier and less time consuming.

I saw something quite special this week while re- watching 'Once upon a time in Hollywood' ( QT ), it was the street mime sequence by 'Pussycat' - l would love to find out how that evolved while filming....it may have been the actress who devised that on the shoot....unless QT was behind it....either way it was the best mime piece for teardrops l have ever seen.

So we appear to have two local companies who have pledged Β£350,000 and Β£200,000 for three year deals at Maldon and Tiptree that include kit branding, stadium re- naming, ground signage and player sponsorship and the like?

All this for a club that are attracting around 150 fans to home matches?

If that.

The new Sporting Director ( should any deal go through ) is none other than Mitchell Cowling?

Robbie Cowling sponsors the Colchester Community Stadium and the shirts.

Colchester United have not been able to attract any major sponsors since the days of The Weston Homes Community Stadium.

It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

I am trying to imagine a football club where the background staff which may include in excess of 35 kitchen personnel and an additional gathering of individuals along with the coaching and playing members may outnumber the fan base.

Two promotions would put Maldon and Tiptree at Conference South level.

The sponsorship packages seem top heavy even at that level.

It did appear that a cash injection may have occured a few weeks ago - maybe this is linked

Or maybe not?

Taken from 'Ipswich Zero 6'

This is a short passage from the 'Reflections' section towards the end of the book.

It is Christmas Day, 2006...

I walked past 79 London Road, the house where the accused was living.

I know these properties to be split into flats and bedsits. It is a world where people arrive then disappear and are never seen again.

There is still a white tent outside and the scaffold and tarpaulin remain.

There are two police officers at the front of the property. One a WPC. They seem to be sharing some kind of joke.

At the back of the property l could see two other police officers.

The media have all gone. No need to tape the road off anymore. Just a few days ago there were media people here from all over the world.

Just when l was getting to the exit of this part of the zone something finally caught my eye.

In the garden of 111 London Road there were five candles burning brightly, protected from the breeze.

I wanted to knock on the door and thank those who lived there for their consideration, but it was Christmas morning and perhaps best if l did not disturb them.

I crossed Handford Road and went back to my car, passing the portable white information centre that the police had set up about ten days ago.

The door was shut.

It seemed to be unmanned.

The sleazy soda stream princess

THAT -
Was some kind of entrance!

The non - restricted access
In navy and denim

Turn on the meter
In pulsating neon

Take the injection
And know what's coming

YOU -
You're so judgemental
And you're going NOWHERE

We can hear
Your eyes move

NW6

In Kilburn
The desert moonlight
Alluring but cruel
Entices our souls

An act that connects us
Momentarily frozen
Out very existence
We are the unborn

Tonight we recapture
In a sepia dream
Burning raw incense
A closeness so pure

Our transient spirit
Above and beyond
This urban metropolis
Where we all sold out

Playing for Wimbledon tonight.

I remember him playing for Watford against us at Layer Road. We filmed the match.

I wonder if Matt Jay will even bother watching the match tonight?

If l was him l would stay at home in the warm.

From 'IPSWICH ZERO 6'

GUSH IN YOUR THROAT

I was feeling
Feeling tired
Of the repeat loop
When l heard the clatter
The clatter of shoes
On the steel staircase
With it's views
Of brilliant skies
And somehow
Just somehow from above
You managed
To drop a red and white can
Of smart priced baked beans
From your bag
Which was likely
To contain further evidence
Of your media student lifestyle
In a Suffolk town
With an ever growing
Crime rate

Stepping into
A blind alley
With fire blackened walls
Your profile
And perfect facial bone structure
Shot stars into the sky
We were rainbow
Basking in all
The white explosions

The gush in your throat
Clinging to the sides
All all the beautiful dreams
They turn to screams by night
Clinging to the walls
The gush in your throat
That crushes me now
Sends me shaking
To the bathroom at 4am
With it's pills and razor blades
Then it fades
A little

From 'IPSWICH ZERO 6'

AUTO EROTIC ASPHYXIATION

You need credit
Your hair is still wet
As l watch you walking
Into the bright lights

You must have taken me
Into your trust
As you leave
Your 'paper work'
On the seat beside me
'Read it if you want'
Which l do -
Tick boxes as well?
xxxxxxx hell,
I feel privileged
That l already knew
Your 'true identity'

I listen to the radio
A phone - in
On Auto Erotic Asphyxiation
Until a caller
From Middlesbrough
Draws their last breath

You run back
In your boots
And your jeans
And your black top
You left your coat
In the car
And that
Always makes me think
That you
Will return
Though
It is no guarantee

Several roundabouts
And about a dozen turnings later
We arrive
You are true to your word
'Turn off the xxxxxxx lights.....
I don't want them to see
Which car l came in'

You stand by a phone box
Like you said
Then l see him
In a white hooded top
You disappear for a moment
Then return
And show me the stuff

It's 3am
And we watch them
The milkman
The railway maintenance guys
The footballer
Was it him?
The nurse

We eat chocolate and crisps
And you say
'You really write about this?'

'Yeah'.

( End )

NB -
It's easy to write about when it is all happening in front of you. That's why l find Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow's written pieces so interesting.

Everything in IPSWICH ZERO 6 happened in front of me so it was just a matter of writing it up in the early hours or the next day.

From IPSWICH ZERO 6

'I SAW ALL OF THIS'

We walked up
The concrete steps
To your flat
Above the estate agents

I remember
How you dropped
Your key
And your words
As l picked it up
'I'm not drunk,
Well actually
Perhaps l am
Just a little'

The babysitter
Was asleep on the sofa
And l will always
Remember
How you touched her hair
And whispered
'Night, night, Hayley'
As you pulled
The duvet
Over her shoulder

It told me
So much about you

We sat in the kitchen
You put on the television
And lit up a Rollie

Sitting there
With the window open
In the still of night
Watching
The twinkling lights
Of the container ships

A headline from a magazine
Caught my eye
Something about crystal meth

There was vodka
On your breath
And the space between us
Was closing

At 4am
I heard the pitter patter
Of tiny feet
And the softest
And most beautiful voice
That said
'Mummy'
Some angelic vision
In a white nightdress
How she stood beside you
And placed her doll
On your pillow

I saw ALL of this

About five years ago a notebook belonging to Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow that had been in the ownership of family members came up for auction.

The notebook was effectively a journal of their experiences while they were on the run.

I will key this in as written by Clyde Barrow with his spelling to keep it authentic.

Intro -

'Bonnie's Just written a poem
The Story of Bonnie and Clyde
So l will try my hand at poetry
With her riding by my side'

We donte want to hurt anney one
But we have to Steal to eat
And if it's a shoot out to live
That's the way it will have to bee
We have kidnapped some people
And tied them to a tree
But not so tight that after we
Were gone tha could not get themselves free
We are going home tomorrow
To look in on the folks
We will meet then outside Cape Vine
If the Laws donte get there first

Note to above from Clyde Barrow -

'Now that's not as good as Bonnie's.
So l guess l will call it a flop
But please God Just one moore
Visit before we are Put on the spot'

I don't call that a flop.

It's just so vivid and real.

MULTI COLOURED ARMY

I saw them

An entire army

Standing patiently

In multi - coloured uniforms

On parade

In complete silence

Most facing due East

But the occasional one

Turned at a slight angle

In the morning sunlight

The generals

Looking strong

And purposeful

The infantry

Strategically placed

And ready for action

At a moment's notice

Then suddenly

A massive EXPLOSIONπŸ’₯

As SHE invades

The bathroom

Quote from the film 'Bonnie and Clyde'

'And you might be the best damn girl in Texas'.

It's moving on towards a hundred years that the following verses were written by Bonnie Parker.

From Irving to West Dallas viaduct
Is known as the Great Divide
Where the women are kin
And the men are men
And they don't 'stool' on Bonnie and Clyde

Some day they'll go down together
They'll bury them side by side
To few it'll be grief
To the law a relief
But it's death for Bonnie and Clyde

Bonnie and Clyde was featured on BBC 2 last night.

I watched it virtually spellbound.

Gene Wilder's facial expressions in the car are the mark of a comedy genius.

The 1967 release was an epic in its day, but if anything, l like it even more all these years later.

The close up's in the opening sequence have immense visual power.
