QPR trounced in final home game as Burnley run riot - Report
at 11:10 28 Apr 2025

"The bit that mystifies idiots like me is if you’ve got these players, and they can play like that, why on earth do you piss away so much time steadfastly grinding out 0-0 draws against Oxford, Preston, Derby, Stoke…?"

I had exactly the same thought but then remembered who their manager is.

When was intent removed from the laws of the game?

Maybe it was because it was against Man Utd - they've been getting decisions from refs for years

Rest of the Championship thread

The Wrexham owners, through their celebrity status have managed to bring in money and sponsors to the club to help fund the spending. Being in the Championship nest season and only a step away from the Premier League, the interest generated and accompanying sponsorship is likely to increase.

The celebrity status of the Wrexham owners trumps the wealth of Ruben because of the way the rules are written and their ability to attract big name, high value sponsors

The question for QPR should be - if several other Championship clubs are interested in Marti, why the hell do we want to get rid of him????

Only a 2 hour drive for me, so taking my 2 kids. I was looking forward to it until yesterday. Hopefully our performance will be more like Preston 2nd half!

Sums up the game, they were better than us and the ref was absolutely abysmal.

And I've just bought tickets for Sunderland away

Marti on today's defeat
at 18:57 22 Apr 2025

I'm sure in one of the post-match interviews he said that he would have liked to have started Kolli and Frey but as they are both coming back from injury, it was too risky.

And Bham as a team will get over 100 points and have won 30 and only lost 3 league games all season

They also used fouls to break up any momentum we tried to build in the first half - they should have had a couple of yellows for persistant fouls.

Think we missed the work-rate of Saito and Smyth and Fox was poor again as he was at Stoke. The late change with Varane pulling out didn't help.

Also confirmed that is one of either Madsen/Anderson, not both of them

That the ref 'didn't see' but still managed to give Preston a free kick for it........

Think we will miss the energy of Smyth and Saito and can Colback repeat his performance from Friday? Although, with pressure off for both sides, I'm guessing a draw

Dembele's goals against Bristol City last week should have been included too - great build up play

Good write up - thought we were ok in the first half and good in the 2nd. Totally deserved the win and always something special about a last minute winner especially when it's as good a strike at this one.

I've been to Preston a few times as it's only just over an hour way for me and nearly didn't go to this one. So glad I did!!

How do you come up with this stuff - brilliant again!

EFL Awards 2025

So 3 of the clubs with the biggest budgets in Leeds, Burnley and Sheff Utd have their managers nominated for Manager of the Season. Great imagination from whoever came up with that list.
