I read yesterday, on some ad-mangled monstrosity of a webpage, that he's out in Dubai training on his own. Hopefully something can be sorted.
Agree with the comments above re. Paal. I really like Ken Paal - I even like saying his name.

But if we've got Fox and Larkeche then any decent offer needs to be seriously considered if he's not renewing. (Marti/Nourry/Belk may also have other ideas and not want to renew who knows). |

The democrats and Biden were even able to mismanage the situation with Kamala Harris - gave up on her pretty quickly despite his obvious deteriorating health, and are now sheepishly wheeling her out when it's far too late. Apparently she gave a good speech last week and was on CNN after the debate, which was a surprise to all 55 panelists it seemed. I think they're going to try to desperately claw back some of the lost black vote by using her more in the coming weeks.
Plus you had a situation where talking heads who have backed Biden decided enough was enough after watching that mess, only for Newsom to then immediately double down on his support for him. Newsom would rather keep his powder dry and give himself a good chance in 2028 than try to sort this shit out now. Hardly a selfless act but the man is a politician.
And we have to remember that even though there was viewership of 51 million for the debate, that means that the majority of people's coverage will be based on clips and soundbites. I noted Anthony Zurcher (who I like) had said last week that Biden needed to get through it without any obvious gaffs that would provide such material - eh...nearly.

I see his wikipedia has been updated already - who does that? Very impressive.
Looked like he had a fair bit of pedigree and promise about him by the age of 20, made his way up through the national team, then got loaned around a bit at club level. Found his feet in his mid twenties with L'Orient, sold to Gent with a year left on a 4 year deal and, as he says himself, has been playing his best football in the last 4 years. So all very positive. |

Can't decide on it yet myself - it's a quirky one I'll say that.
The trim on its own is interesting, but including the elements from the shield may have over clocked it all a bit - some sort of 'shit or bust' late night design decision with Nourry riffing out ideas over the spider phone.

I'm far less worried about what this means than I would've been 6 months ago.
As the team has steadily improved post-Marti's introduction I've seen Armstrong as the player who was most clearly struggling to keep up with those improvements. A good, if very short, example was when he came on at the end against Leeds. Couldn't stay onside, couldn't trap the ball, couldn't lay it off.
Earlier in the season he was one of the brighter sparks in what was often a terrible performance, but his rawness hasn't diminished at all this season, to my eyes anyway.
Would be happy for him to stay and develop, but if he's asking for too much I'd cut him lose or at the very least call his advisors' bluff. |

That's down to straightforward manners though is't it? Someone like that is going to fcuk about with the queue too I'd imagine.
Anyway a prime location to witness a spontaneous queue this time of year is the Old Ship by the river. I'm not saying there's a definite correlation, but it normally coincides with the presence of a regaaaaata. |

Good stuff, thanks for posting. Nothing like your childhood friends for keeping your feet on the ground. Double hip operation at 15 - didn't know about that, must have been hell. May explain a lot of his outside work.
Jimmy seems genuinely positive about us. I think players will always be aware these days they should talk up the fans but that stuff with FFP is revealing I think. |
