Squad depth

I wouldn't be too concerned as Morrison came on last night. After two injuries this season he needs to be bedded in gradually. If he can stay fit, he'll be a mainstay next season.

You're reaching, pal. Derby had 51% possession and 1 shot on target.

Other than the sitter that Yates missed, Derby didn't create any clear cut chances. Yates' miss came in the 83rd minute with QPR 4-0 up and declaring having put Madsen on the pitch. Yates' finish was so poor that you simply can't put it down to bad luck. As for the offside, it's offside, so no further discussion required.

Your assessment also neglects to consider the other decent chances which QPR had to add to their tally of 4 goals. Cook could and perhaps should have made it 3-0 in the first half with a free header from a corner. Saito had a decent effort deflected wide. Frey's magnificent effort from long range that almost hit top bins.

After considering chances for both sides, one could easily argue that it could've been 6-1. However, what it most certainly wasn't was a 3-2 game. Not in a month of Sundays. To even suggest a close contest is an irrational conclusion.

Now, let's see what the rest of the world thinks.

The BBC have gone with the headline "QPR rip Derby apart as new boss Eustace suffers in first game."

Sky are running with "QPR thrash Derby as Eustace learns about scale of task at hand."

West London Sport - "Chair scores twice as superb QPR thrash Derby."

Meanwhile, Derbyshire Live rated every Derby player bar one a 4 out of 10. The one exception was a 4.5.

In short, it was a dominant and convincing 4-0 victory.

How many points needed for 5th/6th?

It's definitely shaping up to be the mother of all tussles for the final 2 play-off spots. Anyone from 5th to 15th is in with a shout.

As the old saying goes, goals change games! Given that Chair scored on 21 minutes, that means we dominated the match for 69+ minutes.

That poll was to gauge whether supporters think we can make he play-offs. This next one is how many points needed for 5th/6th.

I'm far from easy to please but it's hard to argue with a 4-0 win. Other than a cagey opening 20 minutes, QPR were in complete control and utterly clinical. Well done, my team.

Luke Amos
at 19:00 14 Feb 2025

The truth probably lies somewhere in between the extremes on display in this thread. He certainly wasn't rubbish but at the same time definitely nowhere near our best player. Luke was regularly injured so it's difficult to know what his ceiling was and whether he fulfilled his potential. When he was available he was pretty lightweight for a central midfielder, hence the nickname Luke AnonAmos. IMHO he was better pushed slightly forward where he could avoid the central midfield battle and contribute with the odd goal. Ultimately, I wasn't altogether surprised to see drop down the pyramid. Nonetheless, his attitude couldn't be faulted so I wish him well in the Aussie A-League.

Did Nardi Cost us the point?

There's little denying that his attempts to claim the final corner was poor. However, some excellent saves kept us in the contest to begin with. Overall, he's been excellent since he joined so I can forgive him the odd hiccup.

"More ££££s for the council to squander on other things though."

Indeed. Apart from Hammersmith Bridge, that is.
