Ale can and will recover from this. It is his left knee this time, rather than the right one he did last time. Although this is terrible news it is his playing leg and that strangely may be an easier one for him to get strong again. I know that from personal experience as a left footer.
Gallen did the same knee twice and came back. Ale now has to get the left leg better and get it strong. The club should give him the boost of a one year contract extension if he can make the recovery. That would give him belief and strength to get back and the guy deserves it.
Big leaps forward in treatment of this so I for one expect to see the club do the right thing by Ale and give him every chance. I also expect to see Ale back in hoops either by the end of this season or ready for next.

By all accounts TF when in the Crown after the match on Saturday said that the club will see him alright, hopefully SofN can confirm this. Would be a great gesture by the club to offer him a one year extension to his contract to give him time to recover and prove his fitness, if not for QPR ultimately but for another club. If anybody has had the good fortune to meet Ale, then they would back me up by saying that he is a really pleasant guy, polite, humble and really does love the club. A true rarity in todays greedy, obsessive footballing world. Good luck Ale and I look forward to seeing you back in the hoops. I know that what has happened to Ale is not in the same league as Stilyan Petrov at Villa but wouldn't it be nice that on every 32nd minute of a match the crowd started to sing Faurlin's name to show our support and appreciation for him. | |

Dreadful news. Fingers crossed for a full recovery.
Having finally and deservedly got his place back in the team, well what rotten and shocking luck.
The one positive is that he's recovered from this type of injury before, so can do so again.
People should just ignore Jamie's gutter post. He's frequently wrong, proven wrong and the post sums him up. |  |

Hope you're right but could be wishful thinking. Gallen was never the same player after his injury, and Faurlin had struggled to get back to his pre injury best.

Just watched the extended highlights. At 13:16 on the video you can see exactly when he does it. Steps in on his left foot and his studs go into the ground and his knee pushes out. It is really quick but it's no surprise it was an ACL when you see it. | |

I do hope that TF is good to his word and that the club see Ale as the cherished "right sort" who deserves to be looked after. Whether he recovers fully to become the footballer many of us believe him to be is debatable, but first and foremost he deserves to be given the chance as the same way Kieron Dyer and many others before him were given the chance to recover.
This is the downside of short term football contracts from an employees point of view, you get injured doing your job and you could be out of a job within months. I trust there must be insurance policies for players for this type of career threatening injury, even if it is extortionately expensive. |  |

Why would we give a crocked player another contract??? He has made £15k plus a week for the last few years, even if his career ended he would still be comfortable for life.
I feel sorry for the bloke but I don't get the logic of giving him another contract. The Honorable thing would be to let his contract expire but continue to offer medical support and offer him a trial when he starts to regain fitness. |  |

In our promotion season I thought he was as good as ANY Rangers midfielder I had ever seen since my first visit in 1969.

I'm as gutted as anyone, but this a bit ott IMHO.
Agree with Clive, only really back to what he was v Wigan and on Saturday.
No squad should be reliant on one player to go up and I don't think we are/were.
Loved watching him play and he has been a great servant but given our squad and resources we do on purely footballing terms have suitable alternatives. | | | |
