I've always held the view that Liverpool fans are the best in the Premier league, when they are on form. The great anthems and brilliant flags (much to my delight they rarely carry union jacks) set them aside from other English clubs. I've always put this down to their years playing in Europe and learning from playing at some of the best grounds in Europe.
Will we as a set of fans learn from our experiences in Europe this season and give the Swans better support at the Liberty? |  |

Liverpool fans best in league!!! Are you serious, I take it you have never been to Anfield. I've been there with the Swans and also been to Wembley to watch Liverpool v United. Probably the worst atmospheres I've ever witnessed as neutral and opposition fan.

Familiarity breeds contempt. The atmosphere at many of our games in our first Prem season was superb. People are used to playing the 'big teams' now and so the atmosphere has suffered. Looking forward to the Cardiff game to bring some of that atmosphere back.
Liverpool's fans are as average as the rest of the big clubs in the league. Shocking even when winning the game here earlier in the season. |  |

Myth?!
I'm a plastic Liverpool fan and have been since the 70's, although the Swans have always been my first love. I no longer have any great affinity with Liverpool and if I had to chose a winner of this seasons PL it would be Arsenal (after our selves of course).
I was at Wembley in 1974 for Liverpool v Newcastle and have been there many itmes since with Liverpool along with visiting Anfield a few times a season including those European nights.
The criteria of a good set of fans would be to follow the club with passionate support regardless if years of success take that special feeling away, no doubt Liverpool suffered from too much success back in the day and Anfield certainly lost it's passion.
However, I maintain when it comes down to it Liverpool fans on their day are the best, they are different from the other 'English' clubs and I just pose the question how can we learn from our stint in Europe...be it innovative flags, chants whatever? | |

This isn't the 70's, Liverpool fans may well produce a good atmosphere on their day (the celebrations after beating Man U 1-0 that looked like they'd won the title for example), but usually they're as average as most. | |

Yes I agree, there have been plenty of times, probably most games this season where Liverpool's support has been crap. You are right and previous points made In this thread indicate than once the novelty wears off then the atmosphere can be very subdued which at times we have witnessed.
Going back to my point, can we learn from our travels this season? Unfortunately I haven't been away in Europe (this season) so haven't witnessed Malmo, Valencia etc.
I watch some of the MLS and even though the Americans aren't hugely into 'soccer', even their supporters are better organised. Have a look on You Tube at the 'Timbers Army', the supporters group of the Portland Timbers, they put us to shame. | |

As someone who as a kid liked Liverpool and the swans I also attended Liverpool v utd at wembley in 77 and watched as they went mental beating shit out of every manc they saw also hearing they spent all night in Easton station lobing bricks back and fore and having running battles with mancs and Londoners plus then fought my way through Stanley park in the 80's as the scousers pricks attacked every man woman and child in sight from swansea I don't hold them in very high esteem and all this bollocks of them being very friendly supporters garbage ,their atmosphere in the late60's /70's was loud and vociferous also very intimidating was due to the large bank the kop ,now the ground is seated they are very quiet as is nearly all grounds these days ,you very rarely hear loads of mass chanting at any prem ground we don't make a bad noise at the liberty in fact I think it makes other fans more vociferous here in response although I hate hymns and bloody arias |  | | |

I actually was involved in Policing Anfield matches in the mid eighties and was a section commander.
Yes, football fans were more violent and that includes Swansea so its pot kettle again.
I rememeber the Vetch as being not exactly away friendly.
Liverpool in many ways is still a violent city being a Seaport and one that has a big gang culture. It aint a place to shoot your mouth off for sure .
Ive worn my SWANS top in a pretty rough pub off Walton BRECK Rd and was bought two drinks after a game. Could have had a pie too.
PEOPLE are different and in some way ,mainly through THATCHER have had the stuffing knocked out of them.
