Right, The Mrs and the saucepan lids and the dog have set sail for Ireland today living me in sole charge of the tele-visual equipment and remote controls.
Therefore I am looking forward to 2 weeks of being able to watch what I want as opposed to the usual chick flick crap I get subjected to for the rest of the year with 4 women in the house.
So any recommendations would be gratefully accepted for recently released quality stuff I would have missed and should check out.
Films ideally should should be drama/thrillers types, more cerebral than the expendables and not your Cowboys vs Aliens/transformers type nonsense.

It seemed to pass a bit under the radar but DREDD from last year was absolutely awesome. It totally nailed the Judge and his world - Karl Urban is absolutely brilliant as Dredd. I would wholeheartedly endorse The Lives of Others as mentioned by Fearless. Probably the best film I have seen in years. It is the sort that will stay with you long after seeing it.
