Don't think he was poor but he didn't have the same impact being used in a different system and a higher division lets not forget. |
And he was still effective at times too - Notts County away. Far from poor, just not as good as the first spell. |  |

There's still money in the playing budget, Hilly was very clear on that in an interview. I think Hilly would be happy to start the season with the squad that we've got (I expect Maynard to sign when they're back from Tenerife), but I expect to see another couple of signings before the end of August. | | | |

I know this has been mentioned numerous times on previous threads, but I really hope there is some money to bring in a target man up front as opposed to another wide player.
Yes JB is a big lad, but still relatively inexperienced. I just feel we are a little light in this department, not in terms of numbers, but more in terms of experience. Would love to see us try and go in for a player similar to Thorpe (but a tad bit younger!), even if it's on a loan deal.
I would probably suggest the same of our defence, would love to see us get SCS back here, to mentor this very young defence, and provide cover when needed.
Having said the above, should Hilly choose to stick with what we've already got, I'd still be confident going into the opening game, but I suppose some people are never happy..... e.g. me!

We still need some kind of physical presence up front and an experienced centre back to help mentor the young lads.
If grant goes we would also need to see a replacement for him. Despite georgeous improving at the end of last season he is still not good enough to be our main source of goals. | |

According to the diaries, he's been banging them in from all angles. And, Hill reckons he's got what it takes to be the next Grant Holt!
In GD's defence, he's had his first ever proper pre-season. And we know what a Hill pre-season can do for average players.
