Agree to a certain extent but Eddie Howe hasnt done a bad job since returning to Bournemouth and i'm sure there are other examples of managers returning and doing well. We will see.

Exactly. The way things were going, this appointment was (to put it mildly) "worth a try". Or, to put it another way, get the **** in!

Think Hilly will be surprised by the quality we do possess within the squad, get Flicker to send us a few fringe players at their lot on loan (preferably wingers) and get our current crop thinking positively at home. Jobs a good 'un!!

It had to be to the end of the season - that was a no-brainer too. It gives a chance for Flitcroft to climb on board if he gets sacked, having that Number 2 position "vacant". If Flitcroft remains at Barnsley then they become our feeder club. It's a win, win situation. Up the Dale !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To be fair I think Dunphy was talking about the JC appointment not working out overall. If we were flying high at the top of League Two, I don't think anyone would even be thinking of Hilly coming back. As it is, we're not, we have an ill-disciplined team and our most successful ever manager has come "home" to sort it out. A play-off charge come May and Hilly's stock has risen again, making more clubs interested in him. It's a win for him and a win for us in the short-term. However, if it goes boobs up, we both fail together.

I agree. My only regret is that we're not now reading Sweetcorn's exhortations to get behind Jim Gannon!
