Always easier in hindsight but seem to remember Warnock identifying Odemwingie, Jelavic, Naughton as possible Jan signings last year before he was sacked in favour of Hughes' greater expertise in transfer market. He may not have got those players but they seem the type that would have helped us. Even his much derided Puncheon turns out to be one of Soton's best players this year.

It would have been interesting to see who Warnock would have brought in and whether he could have turned things around - although Macheda wasn't a good start!

Jelavic - He is quoted as saying he would pass on that they went to see him play and he was rubbish.
Naughton we were after in the previous summer but he went on season loan to the Norwich instead, we signed Luke Young. Odemwingie was on fire at the time I doubt we would have had any chance on the run we were on.
Yakubu was a target (not sure how realistic it was) that he was really keen on as was Andy Johnson. I remember at the time being rather underwhelmed with the targets as either being old or unrealistic
