It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these.

We beat Eustace only a couple of games ago and I reckon we’ll beat his team again. I’d also like to see Colback and Morgan as the deeper laying two in midfield and Kolli given a chance after an hour or so if he’s recovered from his recent injury/illness (?). I think he’s been hard done by recently considering the amount of goals and assists he’s had.

Rangers 2 Rams 0

C’mon you Soooooopah…

The proof of the divinoty of the world is that it lends itself to so many interpretations, as Henry Miller (channelling Nietzsche) put it. Which a few on 'ere would do well to read up on. Basically, you're saying you can't understand why more people aren't (like) you, right?

Wha's obvious is people like you have no connection with fans like me, who've followed QPR as a home/away season ticket holder, Supporters Club member, fanzine writer, and now Overseas/Irish R for half a century. To be honest, you just embarrass yourself with posts like this, but carry on as you are if it makes you feel better to put down the likes of me to prop up your own fragile self-identity.

Thought Derby lost their heads after 10 minutes however when we played the ball forward it seemed more incisive than recent games and you could see us stretching them left and right.

I think we dominated them at both ends only the midfield looked more standard fare.

Loved some of the stuff Saito does with the ball, love that he plays with a smile.

What's wrong if it did flatter us a bit, we need the GD to ensure 16th.

Best game of the season so far!.

I really enjoyed the way we played.

Field and Varene were deep with Chair dropping back to help them made for a midfield 3 that really worked.

With Saito and Hyeok on the wings we looked a real threat going forwards.

C'mon u Rs.

Well what away to kick off my 50th birthday weekend . Family in the skylounge , good food , booze birthday cake a card board cut out of me as a 6 year old in my Rangers kit and a whacking great 4-0 victory .
Tremendous stuff.

Started slowly but once Ilias smashed one in I thought we dominated the game . It’s not perfect but it’s getting there . The points tally from mid November tells you that .
Thought Varane played well and I bloody love Saito at the moment .
Frey didn’t have a great game but once again , once he’s removed we lose our focal point and start to look more ragged.
Reading through a couple of pages on this thread and I struggle to understand what some fans want .

If nights like tonight don’t bring you joy and pride and happiness , then just go do something that does .

Chuffed to bits

Came on here this morning to indulge in widespread praise for what can only be described as a professional performance last night and have to say that some of the 'opinions' are truly pathetic.

To allow for balance immediately, we did indeed start the game relatively flat and, yes, Derby missed an open goal.

Apart from that, they offered nothing - confirmed by every match report out there and their own fans. We didn't really have to be in third or fourth gear as the game was under control following some superb goals. Please cast your minds back to mid-November and consider how unlikely a 4-0 win was at home, then how ridiculous it sounds to say that there was any disappointment about taking the foot off the gas.

There is one stark difference between those of us who go home and away and the armchair experts offering contrarian opinions for the sake of it. That being when you are there you can truly see the full picture - our work off the ball last night was the best all season and gave us the platform to win a match comfortably and comprehensively.

Additionally, those of you who cannot see the value of Varane may never have played the game. He protects the back 4 superbly and allows the front four greater freedom to do what they need to do. His performance last night as a DEFENSIVE midfielder was exemplary. He is never going to score a hat-trick but that is not his job.

So proud of our team this morning, but so disappointed that we as fans can't seem to enjoy an overall excellent performance for what it was.

Cue the boring responses to this message about having opinions, being Marti disciples or not being able to go to games.

Absolutely.

Just enjoy it lads. No points for contrary.

I get your point Northern, and was desperate for 3 points, leaving the ground on a high,

Thought our defensive running & shape was excellent, not sure I've can recall us being so clinical in the final third and quality of Chair, Saito & Yang was so telling,

But like a couple of posters thought in possession we weren't great, just a few real moments of quality from the little fellas made the difference, which is the difference in this division.

I’m obviously pleased with the result, but…

Chairs been crap this season, but shouldn’t have been subbed for Madsen who’s crap. 4 goals is great but it’s crap compared to 5 or 6 which we SHOULD have gone for because Derby are crap. Did we play well or were Derby so crap that they made us look good? We were crap for 15 minutes until we weren’t and scored 4 goals which proves it wasn’t a complete performance and was actually a crap performance against a crap team in a crap league where results and league position only show how crap you are.

But I’m obviously pleased with the result. U’rssss!

Well said. Agree with all of that.
At the same time, I’m happy to see alternative points of view, but sometimes they just seem to be put out there for the sake of it. Deliberately contrary as someone may have said.
Great performance, great result. Loving this version of QPR

That'd why Marti is a good manager and you...aren't. Part of getting a good position in the league is squad spirit. Players see how he treats everyone, not just those playing well currently. Sure he can be ruthless if you're not at the level but he always gives people chances to improve things, hence our fantastic team spirit.

It was a weird game though. Going to get slammed for this, but that was a poor performance.

First half, Derby were the better team, and second half the same until the 3rd goal. Forget the last 20 minutes, it was all done and dusted by then.

It was a disjointed performance, and that fckin central midfield area is woeful.
If that performance had been against a top 6 side, the result would have been reversed.
We won, but it was very, meh, performance.

So entrenched in your views that you want Field and Dunne replaced that you can't even enjoy a 4-0 home win

QPR v Derby match thread on 22:30 - Feb 14 by stainrods_elbow

It's harsh, I think, but as I said elsewhere, it wasn't really a 4-0 game, and Derby were a bit unlucky not to score one or two. The quality of the goals put a big sheen on it for me. I agree that the inadequacies of Field and Varane in midfield were masked by the excellent Chair performance, the quality of Saito and, to a lesser but still decisive extent, Min.

Personally, I would ditch both Madsen and Varane at the end of the season, unless something dramatic happens. The latter hasn't done enough for me in his position.

Frey has done enough, probably, to stay as a squad player, but he isn't good enough to be our key goalscorer in my eyes.

All that may sound churlish after tonight, but a good home win, finally, against a bottom 3 team still doesn't mean we're any better than a decent midtable side, even when we're on our game, with quality in two or three positions, and a lack of it in two or three others.

I'm going to out contrary myself,

I don't think Chair has been playing well but he is being far more effective & creating more goal scoring chances than when he does play well,

One to antagonise both sides of the debate,

Ps, that clever run for his 2nd & 60 yard track back to cover Paal showed both sides of his game last night, effective at both ends of the pitch if not so dominant in the middle.

You forgot Smyth and Cook to add to Field and Dunne who should be sold/released in the summer.

One open goal, inches wide, an d one marginal offside goal given against them. Plus plenty of possession, and one or two decent off-target attempts. It's hardly an irrational conclusion!

It is very irrational!

The three attempts you mentioned were off target & the other one was offside & it doesn't matter how marginal! That equates to one goal deby should have scored & we were four in front by then.

Wasn't marginal either he was miles offside and it would have been a shocking decision if the lino missed it
