Apologies if there is another thread about Nardi but I couldn't find one using the search function.

I think I'm going to be liking him as much as Dieng if he continues to play well, but still early days. I'm surprised how old he is (30), he looks much younger than that but I guess 30 is quite young for goalkeepers. He had a really serious leg break only 12 months ago so to come back from that and be playing as well as he is, fair play to him.

Someone with a terrible taste in music but is good with computers needs to make a save compilation for him.

The W12 podcast had a really good interview with him the other week - came across as a really nice guy, especially when talking about the stress of moving to QPR a month after his wife gave birth:

https://open.spotify.com/show/4hAFp45TcA4LBfwAOZATy3

His English has come on leaps and bounds (IMO) since the initial QPR video of him after he signed.

On the language bit, I noticed that with both him and Varane. Amazing what a few months in the environment has done for that!

I'm sure all our new overseas players will be fluent in Anglo Saxon expletives by now.

I don't think I've ever seen a keeper with such a Square broad stature! His shoulders are literally square from his neck to his arms! Fantastic! Big fan of his!

Totally agree with OP. Currently massive favourite for POTY. I think he’s far superior to Seny in terms of shotstopping and reflexes (Seny probably shades distribution and is much better commanding his box). Given how late the modern GK plays now (see previous role holder) we should have him for his best years and some.

Upgrade on the guy in there last year is an understatement. Biggest win for the recruitment team this summer, with Varane a distant second for me.

He has a Schmeichel type technique as well which is pretty good. So far very good.

Never knowingly right.

Good shot-stopper, good on one-on-ones.

Ok at distribution.

Very poor in the air, and a huge reason why we have been so poor at defending corners.
I think (hope) he's improving on the latter. If he does, he'll be a very good keeper for us.

At the moment, I'd give him a 6 or a 7 out of 10.

6 or 7 is a damn good score over a half a season.

He looks to be a superb keeper and a great example of the scouting Europe model working.

For my money he is a better keeper on what we have seen then Seny Dieng is. How many mistakes has he made leading to goals this year? Very few. Seny is definitely not a rick-less keeper - and has let a few soft goals in for Boro this year already from what we've seen. I'd only really rank Seny as the better keeper in terms of playing out from the back based on the first few months of the reign of Nardi. His kicking is a little dodgy let's be fair.

You say that, but then Joe Walsh has looked absolutely fantastic in the cup when he's been called upon. Terrific shotstopper and a real prospect. Nardi has been fantastic, but I'd feel very secure with Walsh coming through. Blows my mind we had to sit through Begovic last year while Walsh was kicking around.

Took one nice cross from a corner late on V Oxford although seemed pole-axed after it. Was under no pressure mind. I don't think most foreign keepers are nearly as strong in the air as British keepers, they almost always punch a crossed ball if they come for it at all.

I expect we'll see Walsh in the FA cup. Though given our traditional cheap teabag exploits, he'll probably only get one game.

Well, Nardi's punching is poor as well. He doesn't come out very often, he's not the tallest, hasn't got a great jump and has no distance on his punch due to lack of technique. (How many times have we seen his punch not even clear our box?)

Similarly, his catching technique is poor, he doesn't protect himself, he catches at full extension so his eyes are off the ball at time of contact and he falls backwards (hence the injury on Wednesday, I'd imagine).

He's not a goalie who suits the Championship. It's not his game.
I do think he's improving in the air, and I hope he can continue to.

I really like him, not perfect but who is?

His command of the box will improve over time, my main concern is he loses sight of the ball when it's coming at him through a crowded box. He looks to be getting better at that or our defence has realised they need to help him there and are a step ahead in terms of reactions and awareness from the start of the season. Morrisons return has helped him.

Lets not forget Joe Walsh has something and needs some games as well, roll on the FA cup fingers crossed.

I remember Dieng having a habit of parrying it back in danger regularly, Nardi's punching is if nothing else less predictable and adds energy into the ball where the 'parry' just took it off making it easier for the opposition to stick in the net.

I'd take Nardi over any of a recent signings in other than Dieng who I'd agree on his day was an amazing shot stopper.

Ah yes forgot about Joe.

I keep thinking Jordan Archer is next on the list! Didn't realise he's now warming the bench at Pompey.

Not a goalie who suits the Championship? You silver-tounged seductive devil. Freddie Woodman has played 197 games in the Championship, and he’s plops.
