With 80mph winds from the west against an average walking speed of 3mph I calculate that you’ll be in Copenhagen by kick off!

I saw a stormy petrel in the park this morning, so it looks bleak.

I'd ring the club on the electric speaking telephone to make sure the game's on.

True to some extent but the last time this happened was for the last home game against Stoke and it b-ggered the Central Line from West Ruislip up enough for us to miss the first half of the game. I think a lot of people stuck on trains behind ours simply gave up and went home.

Just get on with it.

Piccadilly Line up Rayners Lane been shut for days now due to "excessive leaf fall"
I mean WTF

Oooooooooh.... it's going to be a bit more than breezy so all the H&S nazi's go full on risk aversion and shut everything down and issue STAY AT HOME YOU SOFT FUKRS notices.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

That's because somehow this country has got even worse at dealing with it; seemed to manage OK years ago when the weather was often worse!

Re the leaf fall, overground trains at least never used to suffer from that back in the day.

Mind you, that was only because they used to chop down every last tree, shrub and bush etc anywhere near the tracks, to prevent sparks from the steam engines starting a fire.

Try reinstating that policy now and you'd incur the wrath of the environmentalists etc - "London's green lungs" and all that.

With storms now getting more intense year on year because of the climate emergency, the environmentalists 'wrath' is entirely understandable, particularly when retaining trees is essential to help mitigate the effects of global heating.

So did we all, but every time there's a severe weather warning you can guarantee that a few people will die from a tree falling on their car or freezing while stranded or skidding to death in a blizzard or being swept off a sea wall because they couldn't just stay the fck at home.

18 people didn’t. With some deaths likely to have been caused by the lack of warnings, better to have too many warnings than too few.

One of those injured quite badly was my mother in law who I didn’t know at the time .
Brutal night that .
True though. Better safe than sorry.
