He had to kick a ball in a straight line and managed to barely kick it at all. 87th minute, in front of the away, just kick it in a straight line and be the hero. £3m Newcastle paid.

That's a bit harsh on Ashby. The ball was dropping from a good height and he had to connect with it on the run. It was a big chance but not such a simple one. [Post edited 30 Nov 15:50]

I thought Morrison's chance was better. I thought the green shoots could be seen at Leeds post Middlesbrough. I know we lost the game but we caused them problems and stayed in the game until the last knockings. After two good away games it will be interesting to see how the team reacts to being back at Loftus Road. I really hope that Colback will be available to replace Field. If we can keep up a decent level of consistency, which we should with the injured players returning, then you would fancy our chances of escaping the drop once again.
Just back. on 16:18 - Nov 30 with 4118 views | Malintabuk | Just got back and without doubt I'm a far happier chappy than I was 7 days ago 4 points away from home, two clean sheets, and though Cardiff was a bit back to the wall ... today I thought we were the better team, certainly created the better chances. Disappointed though that given all our chances their keeper only really had that one save all game from Celar....so the others were poor misses. Thought Field had a great game and think we will miss him next week... honourable mentions the Smyth... if the lad could cross or pass straight he would be some player. Thought Varane when he came on was immense... and Dunne just wins everything in the air, his knocked downs/flicks must have created 2 or 3 chances, a real weapon. Too early to say that we may have turned the corner but we actually looked a team today .... and a decent one | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Just back. on 16:21 - Nov 30 with 4087 views | BklynRanger | Marti had a fair bit of Spanish cursing coming out of him after that Celar chance hit the post. Would have been great if that had gone in. Agree about the Ashby chance, also very frustrating but was a tricky one. I noticed Fox made the challenge and played the initial ball in to Anderson - a very mixed bag from him but not his best position and definitely not his ideal man to mark. I thought Watford were less than the sum of their parts, but not to take it away from us. Didn't park the bus, played some good stuff at times. Slightly terrifyingly, a couple of those new players look like they're beginning to find their feet. Hopefully just in time for a sanity-saving run of decent form
Just back. on 16:23 - Nov 30 with 4068 views | Lanhoop | Enjoyable match. We should have won, need to finish chances and our winger needs to learn how to cross. The 2000 who were there were brilliant and rightly gave the team credit during and after the game. Watford support is truly awful. The referee was a massive homer, in fact a case study for refs in "how to be a homer". Only Ken Paal disappointed, clearly not back up to speed. 5 points from the week is ok, it could have been 9 but fine margins...

Can't get my head around Marti's subs (bringing on a slow left back against a quick right winger, taking off a quick right winger and replacing with a no. 2 etc etc). I always like to see a rapid striker introduced with 10 to go. Shame we haven't got one. [Post edited 30 Nov 16:27]

You’re right about having no pace in attack. Watford were playing a high line in the last 15 minutes or so and with a pacier front line we would have taken advantage. Enjoyed the game though almost spoiled by a piss poor referee again. Everybody put in a shift apart from Paal who was very poor and Morgan who had had his poorest performance in QPR Shirt. He’ll get better. Madsen getting booked for an actual tackle was quite funny. Probably our best showing of the season. 5 points from the week and two clean sheets. There’s hope. Supporters as ever outstanding . Not so great was the security on the way into the ground. Over the top or what.

He’s a professional footballer. Will have to see it again and might feel differently watching after the event but it looked an absolute shocker. Not as much as Morrison first half admittedly.
Just back. on 16:53 - Nov 30 with 3755 views | Hastings_Hoops | I was sat with three neutrals and four watford fans in a hospitality box near the rookery stand. - the neutrals and Watford fans felt QPR should have won and have some really good technical players - they and the Watford supporters nearby liked the look of Saito. - they were equally confused about the approach of having your tallest player take corners. My observations from the far side; - it seemed a strange decision to start Paal and then inevitably have to take him off on 60 mins when he tired for Fox… This coincided with Baah coming on for them and he tore Fox a new one. Personally, I would have put Ashby at left back to try to keep pace with Baah. - the QPR fans didn’t stop singing - really impressive and came across loud and clear (duly noted by the neutrals). My other observation is that looking at the quality of hospitality at Vicarage Road in what is essentially a similar size stadium with similar constraints; there is very little reason that QPR can’t replicate as Michael Drain and calfordseaden have identified. Feel like a proud Dad this evening. I don't care if we have deficiencies in the side, I don't care if we miss a few sitters because that happens to all teams. What I want is 100%, that's what these blokes have given us recently. Fight, pride in our shirt & desire. They have shown that over the last few games. Keep that up, who knows, we may stay up. In MC we trust. We are QPR.

I also think that's a bit harsh on him. He definitely should have done better than the shank he produced, but the absolute best chances we had were the poor misses by Madsen and Morrison first half

Fitness and injuries? Paal was always unlikely to last ninety minutes. Smyth has a groin injury and has been replaced for that reason the last couple of games. Maybe today was the same.

Agreed. Not too worried about our league position because it feels like something has clicked finally and we look much more like the team we became in the second half of last season. And that's with half a team. The other reassuring thing is that there are about 10 sides above us that are starting to look like dross and a few weeks ago we looked like we would never catch anyone. Now I think we can.

It’s all about opinions but I didn’t really see that. Thought he was average and missed a chance he should have buried. Some nice stuff which was good but needs to do a lot more. What I would say though, and applies to Wednesday too, he seems to be working much harder, running around and pressing a lot more and think I even saw a couple of tackles, including a yellow early on. I think it’s positive he’s starting to get stuck in a bit more and run around but in the position he was playing today, I do expect more.
Just back. on 20:54 - Nov 30 with 2241 views | sdm1508 | Really not sure about Ashby. He plays like his legs are too long for him or doesn't know what they are doing and most of the time he does the opposite thing to what he should. The amount of times when he played left back he would cut in and then dribble across the pitch, only to lose it and then be out of position. Passes it when he should hold on and keeps it when the simple pass is on. I know very inexperienced and maybe will offer more and be more comfortable on the right side. If he does play right back I'm glad Cook is on that side and will hopefully talk him through the game
Just back. on 22:10 - Nov 30 with 1969 views | Pdog | What was noticeable right from the off was that extra intensity and spring in the step which just hasn't been there in recent games. That after a grueling midweek away trip and early morning K/O with minimal prep time. Granted we faded but dug in and kept threatening till the end. Confidence and momentum is a real thing at this level where there isn't much between teams, that win visibly gave us something and we turned up today. 5pts from a 3 game week, I'll take that. December has some very winnable fixtures, Norwich look lively but this is the Championship. [Post edited 30 Nov 22:11]
