Not easy when you are instructed to play up top, 90% of our play goes down the flanks, and you receive the ball to feet a handful of times each match.

Swansea City v Portsmouth : Match day thread MATCH DAY on 09:11 - Dec 2 with 223 views | Legend83 | I know he gets a lot of flak at times (and I am not his biggest fan), but a big part of the problem with that first half is we needed a captain to rally the troops and set the standards for the rest of the team. The sight of Grimes mutely trudging back to the center circle as if nothing happened after the first goal really ground my gears. Firstly, he should have been furious with himself for making a half-arsed attempt to get back and cover Key's ineptitude. Secondly, he should have been b*llocking Key for his ineptitude and telling the team to focus. Can you imagine Roy Keane, Ash Williams or even Garry Monk putting up with that crap?? Seems the standards set are to play to 75% of your capability on an infuriatingly regular basis.

Well hallelujah At last a poster who States the unpalatable . We have a captain who leads by example,a bad example No captain should be encouraging walking football nor see players trying to dribble @ ball out of trouble two yards from their own goal line We can play, and oretty well. But we are being strangled by the coach and captain . If either wee replaced.IF,things would be different . Few coaches would see us willingly take a short corner in the fourth min of time added on. Games have ended with us chasing the game with our centre backs passing it sideways .

Bianchini manages to get involved when he comes off the bench and he’s far from the finished article. I’ve been very critical of Vipotnik as I think he offers very little. However, I think his main problem is his inexperience. I’ve pretty much written this season off as one where we don’t trouble the top 6 or relegation places. I can’t see us putting a particularly good or bad run together. We ‘may’ have a good striker on our hands by next season if he can learn to impose himself on games. The willingness is there and he’s clearly got shooting ability, he just doesn’t quite seem to know what he’s doing yet. I think we’ll have quite a few frustrating performances punctuated with the odd goal before he gets there though.

Yes I agree, but Bianchini's greater involvement probably is partly due to his experience and natural urges as a winger. As an aside, I like what I see of him - yes his finish was poor, but his movement to get clean through was excellent and not the first time he's done that. His impact per minute played is right up there. I agree with the rest of your post on Vipotnik, and I think to some extent we have to expect similarly frustrating and inconsistent performances from a lot of our players - a lot of the new, young and with barely 100 "senior" games amongst many of them.

What does me is the unfettered praise for Grinmes As inept and insipid a skipper as is possible to see Utterly uninspirational This fella could be so much better , I think but a captain he is not I've always believed Darlong a possible better captain The very worst aspect of Grimes is game management He souls be nowhere near our back four His backwards dribbling towards his own goal says it all Yet, he is never rested

There isn’t unfettered praise for Grimes on here. Rightly or wrongly, he’s our most criticised player by a long way. Sometimes justifiably, often for things that are nothing to do with him.
