I posted these stats back in July.
Lets do it again in case people missed them ...
SeasonEnd - Goals/Assists
2021 - 12/5 = 17
2022 - 9/3 = 12
2023 - 8/3 = 11
2024 - 7/1 = 8
Of the 7 goals last season, 6 were in the Champ. Which came against Swansea, Stoke 2, Watford, Preston and Leeds.
This season so far he has goal and good one. Excellent.
But we know him now and we know he goes on goal runs which are over shadowed by doing nothing in many games and then also being injured, only to come back (which to his credit he does do quickly) and loop through it all again.
As we can see Dykes return on Goals and Assists is going down every season. And he is 28, turning 29 in October.
He is getting worse not better, we won't get another chance to cash in, its time, we need to sell him.
If someone gives us +£2m, we should take it.
With that money loan Ross Stewart from the Saints he's the same age as Dykes, same position, but ten times the player. Think Kleefer Moore but younger, so the old fast-scoring Moore. Injured last season, the Saints got promoted anyway and now have brought in loadsa strikers, so they don't need him. Experienced, proven Champ player in the exact same position as Dykes but way better.
Then there is Stansfield, of course. He's still not been loaned out, and he's not going to Brum again. These players would not be ours, but it would give time for hopefully either Frey to improve, Celar to bed in or at worst time for us to find a replacement next season. |  |

Just watch the highlights and must admit my opinion of celar has changed. Walked away thinking he was 💩 but most of those were half opportunities. Did well with his positioning. Not making a judgement on him just yet. | |

And that is a good thing. Strikers should be intimidating. I played centre half (at a rubbish level, obvs). But Frey is the one I’d least like to face of the 3. I’d fancy my ability to bully Dykes and Celar (as a professional centre half). Frey won’t get bullied. It’ll create second balls for Dembele and Saito. |  | | |

I think Frey has had a decent start this season
I dont think Dykes would have been in position to get the Celar chances / half chances that has always been his problem, lacks nouse and positioning, will score when its instinctive but rarely in the right place at the right time. Celar is a bit one paced for my liking though. If Dykes does go can see a Prem loan coming in as 3rd choice. |  | | |

Celar had about 6 shots in 45 mins. Should’ve scored 1 or 2 of them.
Dykes, who i like, averages about 1 shot a game. I was encouraged by Celar today. |
The header from the set piece from Kolli was goal bound save a slight deflection. I rewatched the game last night and it was a lot better than I felt leaving the game. |  | | |
