H10 Madison is fabulous we went there for Mrs 60th and it was brilliant made a right fuss of the Mrs as well, close to most things, really busy area though, we went up to La Sagrada Familia which was brilliant.
Harbour and beach area is fantastic as well.

Stayed further up the coast a few years ago and caught the train in a few times.

If you’ve never been before the hop on hop off buses will give you a feel for the place as will a guided walking tour some of which are “free” - you just tip the guide at the end what you think the tour was worth. We recently went to Krakow and used Guru - they were superb.

Be careful in the Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas as there lots of pick pockets about. I’d be very careful eating and drinking on Las Ramblas, the restaurants will show you menus with reasonably priced meals, but there’s no price for the drinks and when you eventually get the bill it’ll be extortionate as the drinks are really really expensive. I got caught and I wasn’t the only one. Was with the wife and kiddies so couldn’t do a lot about it.

Ive been to barcelona a few times pal, stayed in various places..you'll find it hard to beat sm sant antoni hotel, its right by sagrada familia and around £100 per night with free buffet breakfast and you have the metro and bus within a few mins walk..get the metro from the airport, its only a few bucks pp

The hop on hop off bus was well worth pick it up near Hard Rock cafe you will see everything, Nou camp maybe not impressive now in this day and age but still worth a look, go up inside the Christopher Columbus statue and you can literally feel it swaying, a nice restaurant we went to was down in the back passages called Sinatras might not be there now last time we were in Barca was 10 years. As said be careful on La Ramblas they will literally walk up to you and tax you of everything you have on you.
