Eastleigh v Man U on 09:53 - Jan 9 by SaintNick | Sounds a big gap between the two clubs, but Newport are only in the division above so it's closer than you think only about 16-17 places as it stands at the moment, same gap as we are with say Blackburn, Plymouth or Stoke |
Not really, we are in the same division Blackburn, etc. It's pointless saying how many 'places' difference there are between teams when those places cover two divisions.

So we would stand a good chance against Bournemouth, or Newcastle, or Chelsea right now, or even Spurs based on no. of places between the teams?

QPR only just lost to Bournemouth, so yes we would stand a reasonable chance, Rotherham rock bottom of the Championship only lost 1-0 at Fulham. The gap between the National League & League two is a lot closer than between the Premier & Championship

If we played our strongest side, we could give Boscombe a good game. People underrate Boscombe, as they are a completely and utterly irrelevant club with no history, playing in a tinpot stadium. Hence their oppo regularly get complacent. It is their biggest weapon. If we played them now, I suspect our fans and players might actually be up for it. I had kind of hoped we would get them in the draw last night.

I would suspect a fair few of those hadn't been to an Eastleigh away game before

Eastleigh v Man U on 20:16 - Jan 8 by dirk_doone | Could they play it at St Mary's? They know they can't win the game anyway so they might as well make as much money as possible out of it. |
Should they get past Newport, they'd have a slim chance at the Silverlake as Utd are a pretty average rabble. Plus the game would 100% be televised as every Man Utd FA Cup game is. If they played at SMS, they'd probably be 5000 Eastleigh fans and 25000 local Reds. As for tickets, 1000 odd ST holders would be guaranteed obviously, 750 would go to Utd (although they gave Reading 1400 last round), so the other 3250 you'd like to think they'd offer priority to any with a 2 or 3 game purchase history this season, instead of a free for all where many could get sold on with inflated prices.

I dont think they can move the game, that is only allowed if there are police issues, but Eastleigh's ground is pretty secure and can easily be policed as it only has access from Stoneham Lane into the car parks surrounding the ground . So i think they would be hard pressed to get the game moved due to the stadium not being up to it

Eastleigh v Man U on 21:12 - Jan 8 by Southamptonfan | How Eastleigh would sort out the ticketing would be interesting. Obviously the thousand or so Eastleigh season ticket holders would get a ticket. But the rest, not sure how they would do it. Not sure if they have a database of fans who have been to previous Eastleigh games. |
https://www.eastleighfc.com/news-provisional-ticketing-plans-for-fa-cup-fourth-r Letting ST holders and those with a purchase history each buy 2 tickets With only about 4000 tickets available for home fans, you'd have thought the above criteria would have exceeded 2000, they had 3600 home fans v Reading in the last round, why not make sure all them get a ticket. Cos doing it their cack handed way, in theory their could be 2000 people there who've never ever even been there before, and tickets sold on for good money.
