GK - Begovic RB - Kakay CB - Fox CB - New Signing/Gubbins LB - Paal CM - Dozzell (Colback not fit apparently) CM - Field AM - Chair AM - Willock CF - Kelman CF - Dykes
Obviously centre back a major issue. No idea how fit Fox is other than that he came through 60 minutes v Hanwell and will almost certainly have to start and play 90 minutes here. For some crazy reason, I'm going Kelman over Richards simply because I liked the Hold up man/poacher link-up him and Dykes had against Reading's kids. Plus Kelman looks fit and looks interested which is nice. In reality that won't happen, I reckon Ainsworth starts Adomah and plays Chair more central. I think Smyth and Armstrong won't be ready to start but can have an impact from the bench. Colback not ready to start either but he'll inevtiably play instead of Dozzell eventually.

Speaking to a Fulham mate of mine he says Larkeche is ok going forward. He’s nice and tidy but very poor defensively. Often out of position and gets bullied by strikers. A defence with him and Kakay fills me with no confidence. In my opinion Kakay is just not a Championship player. Our defence looks painfully weak tomorrow. Paal is hardly a great defender either. Any injury up top and we are done for even more. I can’t see anything than a home win of 4 or 5-0 and major boos from the Rs faithful at the end (the ones who have stayed).
I was most disappointed by Paal’s contributions going forward last season. I thought he was good defensively on the whole. I guess 71 goals against says otherwise but I can’t remember too many teams getting the better of him.

It seems to have gone very quiet on this CB we're supposed to need in by mid day today to be able to play tomorrow. I thought, or perhaps hoped, I saw the back of Dunne in some photos of training on the Official, and Gareth was talking about how he hoped he was going to be back very soon. That and that we supposedly pulled out of a done deal for the Peterboro CB make me wonder if Dunne will be on the Bench at least tomorrow. Wishful thinking maybe and now normal not to hear what actually happened to him at Oxford, other than he was obviously in a bad way when taken off there. But the prospect of Gubbins or Kakay playing there, or Field dropping back and leaving our defensive midfield open wide scares the sh*te out of me.

Without being to negative , our defence was poor last year and i cannot believe we are 1 day before the start of the season and our defence looks weaker .
The only positive is our keeper .
With that said , we lose, hopefully.... some one will twig that we need players in , that's my hopes.
Opening games of the season have proved " strange" and something bizarre may happen. But like most fans, i'm expecting a poor start.
To be fair , a fit Dunne / Fox / JCS + 1 is not a bad shout. Agree also about Gubbins , been around for some time. Its time to step up now...
Anyway - good lujc to team and all travelling fans

I do think its interesting no one has put Sinclair Armstrong in their team. Without putting pressure on the kids shoulders I think our season lives or dies currently on keeping him fit and getting him scoring. If he comes good it will save the season and quite possible the club financially next summer

Now that we are fairly certain no new CB has been signed, I'll have a go. Based as much as possible on those who started at Burnley and Stoke (5 players) Begovic Kakay, Rendall, Gubbins, Larkeche Adomah, Dixon-Bonner, Chair, Field, Pal Dykes.
Everyone else on the bench

I'd play Gubbins, he's another one who has been here years and never gets a game so we keep giving him new deals as we have no idea. A tough ask for the kid but what an opportunity for him if he plays well. If he's crap and we lose well at least we know
I doubt he'll play 2 up front, think it will be 4-2-3-1 maybe Albert on the right with Chair in the middle and Willock on the left
Armstrong and Smyth on last half an hour for pace on the break

Totally agree- we have to PROVE that our contracted players either are or aren’t good enough much sooner than we do now - the trouble is that should be at least 20 games and we don’t have a current squad to allow us to do that

Well, I think I'm ready to give up on the idea we're signing a centre back for tomorrow. Dunne and JCS.....ok, just Dunne is going to be magically fit isn't he

We are genuinely going into the first game with Gubbins and Fox, aren’t we? A bloke Stoke let go and began as a left back, and a lad who has played about 20 professional games in his life and never started for us.
Good luck, gents.
