Not of my politics, but she was a symptom of a hugely ignored section of the electorate, and I don’t mean the Scottish.

Labour and Tories would do well to acknowledge that electorate.

People whose votes are wasted or don’t don’t have their politics represented because of FPtP.

I think that’s the way Starmer will be heading when he gets in, one big carve up between the libs/labs and Scottish nationalists. You’ll be a happy man Baz.

I won’t / can’t vote for any of those parties Steve.

I thought you knew me better than that or at least kept an eye on the news!

I see. So what’s the next move for the likes of yourself, Jezza and old Mac Donald, form a new party?

Might be worth a try if he does alter voting system.

Starmer will never go for Proportional Representation. It would threaten his desire to be top dog because it often calls for negotiation and compromise, something he doesn't do very well.

We had a referendum around 10 years ago to change the voting system in this country and the results very much remained in favour of keeping first past the post, which although not perfect does keep away the extremist elements in this country from gaining a foothold.

I’ve not been following it too closely but I was under the impression negotiation and compromise was all he did, but only to the right, like a kak stars in their eyes Tony Blair

I think it could be argued that we already have extremists in government. Sending migrants to Rwanda, calling for the death penalty, and putting protesters in jail for ten years doesn’t seem very mainstream to me.

There are only two nations that use our version of FPtP in Europe. Us and Belarus.

You are saying that famous beacon of non extremism Belarus has a better system than Norway for avoiding extremists.

Also, people’s definition of extremists is usually flexible to suit their own politics. Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Che Guevara, and James Connolly famously labelled terrorists and extremists. Now they have statues in Parliament and are printed on T Shirts.

No more from me. Happy to DM though.
