Ever randomly walked past a celebrity 18:37 - Jan 12 with 31873 viewsnumptydumpty

Next to Glenn Hoddle in queue at Tescos other day

Amazingly mate mine recognised Brian Hanrahan in Moon pub in Shepherd's Bush. 30 years after his famous Falkland BBC news

Saw Tony Meo next to Steve Davis, and randomly only recognised Tony Meo and Mr Steve heard my recognition of his mate as opposed to him !!!

Another friend randomly recognised Statto at Royal Ascot of Skinner and Baddiel fame.

Was sat next Steve Rider at Bracknell rugby game. Of Grandstand 'fame"

Few very z list celebs indeed

Anyone randomly bumped into any mega stars

Remember seeing Alan Ball pop into bookies in Portsmouth to check out his loser. No one said anything.

Saw Colin Jackson 100 metre hurdler in his GB kit at an airport in Milan, looked ridiculously healthy and fit.

Anyone had an exchange with a celeb....

I must be bored !!!! 😴

Before that game against Liverpool I literally bumped into Daniel Craig by the box office, genuine accident I was talking to my mate and he was looking down at his phone and we barged shoulders, we both apologised to each other and carried on our separate ways, my mate stopped and said “you just shoulder barged James Bond”.

Met and talked to David Bryan of Bon Jovi for quite a while at his Memphis musical at Shaftsbury Theatre about 8 years ago. Met Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy backstage at High Voltage festival about 10 years ago, Slash of Guns and Roses walked by as well as a couple of members of Judas Priest. About 3 years ago sat next to and had a great conversation about music, life and David Bowie with Jo Whiley on train between Watford Junction and Milton Keynes, she was on her way home from her nightly Radio 2 show. Recently played a couple of walking football games with ex Swindon and Tottenham player Colin Calderwood at our football club.

Lorenzo Insigne in Galleries Lafayette in Paris just before Christmas. He was trying to get a tax refund but didn't have the right ID!

He's very small.

Stood next to this bloke at half time of the Luton game while I was having a fag. Me and my mate knew we recognised him but couldn't remember from where.

Turns out he's a Middlesbrough fan, so Lord knows what he was doing at QPR v Luton

After seeing a play at the National theatre last summer, I was waiting for a friend when Alison Steadman walked up to me, mistaken identity on her part, but as our eyes met, all I could say was, "I've always loved you"

Lived in Dubai for 12 years, bumping into someone recognisable was a weekly event..

Some that stand out though :

High points:
Having a very alcohol fuelled night with Mel C. (Spice girl)
Gary Rhodes (rip) cooking dinner for my family in his apartment, we were neighbours.
Playing football at my son's football club with Teddy Sheringham, Dennis Irwin & John Barnes - nice fellas all.
Frankie Dettori & Marco Pierre White, gatecrashed their Frankie's Restaurant launch, I was extremely worse for wear after an all day brunch, they were very nice, surprisingly.
Barbara Windsor (rip) wonderful lady.

Low points:
Trevor Sinclair, utter cock.
Roger Federer, ignorant tosser.
Adel Taarabt - swore at my 6 year old son, who accidently trod on his flip-flopped foot when QPR were in Dubai Jebel Ali Resort warm weather training. The rest of the squad were fantastic, a few on this site were present that day.

Numpty, you mentioned Brian Hanrahan. I sat with him at lunch (royal banquet) on a Pacific Island when the Queen visited on Britannia. That was in 1982, not too long after his stint in the Falklands.

Several of these.

I was standing next to Bruce Foxton from the Jam at the Weyside Inn, Guildford about 20 years ago. Bought him a beer. Very cool guy.

I was walking across Hungerford Bridge about 15 years ago with my cousin, who comes from just outside Lincoln and was down in London for her birthday when she asked "Do you ever see anyone famous in London?" Immediately she asked, Alan Bennett walked past us heading towards the National, so I replied "Only Alan Bennett".

More recently (2009, I think), Debbie Harry at the St Martin's Lane Hotel as I was coming out of the Asia De Cuba restaurant and she was coming out of the bar, both heading in the general direction of the bogs.

Took a flight with Johhny Wilkinson sitting 2 rows back.
Stood next to Louise Lear, BBC Weather presenter, on Central Line.
The Prodigy at JFK
Christopher Dean, ice dancer, at Heathrow Airport
Couple of MPs
Chris Gray and Damian Cronin, while they were Scotland's second row. I got neck ache from looking up.
Warren Neil, former footballer, at a party.
Robert Croft Glamorgan & England cricketer having a p1ss at Sandbach services

Sue Perkins on a flight to Belfast. Topped by Zammo on the way home from Corfu a year later. Some geezer from Avatar on a different flight home from Belfast. Alan McDonald in the Prince of Wales, Hillingdon.
I’ve also appeared alongside George Cole in Minder - I may have mentioned that, not sure.

Horrible Chelsea man at Faro airport.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

I saw Chris Eubank AND Noel Edmonds on the same day once.

I worked in a town in Mallorca for a while that was quite popular with minor British celebrities/footballers, was behind Jamie Redknapp in the queue at the supermarket, saw Steve McManaman, Dietmar Hamman and David Dunn in a local bar (not together), saw Liza Tarbuck having lunch in a restaurant and John Bishop getting into a Toyota Yaris.

Also once saw Boris Johnson on a Boris bike in his London mayor days, he was stopped at a crossing and as we started to cross, one pedestrian shouted 'Hey Boris', Boris looked up and without skipping a beat the bloke shouted 'you're a w-nker'. Brilliant moment

Used to live in Frithville Gardens which led to the back entrance of the BBC Centre. Would see loads walking down that street - Meatloaf, John Cleese, Kenneth Williams to name a few.

Also saw Kenneth Williams in Regents Park.

Sat opposite Malcom Macdonald on the tube.

Stood near Kevin Coyne in the School End when we played Derby on year.

Used to sit a few seats away from Lord Gould and his daughter at the back of the Loft. I can't tell you how any times I was tempted to shout out "Lord Gawd help us!" when we went a goal down.

I also have a Bruce Foxton in a pub in Guildford story!

During our teenage drinking years, my brother & me saw him in The Britannia.
I didn't want to bother him but my brother insisted, so next time he went up to the bar I went and stood next to him, told him I was a massive fan of The Jam and could I buy buy him a drink.
He was very gracious and polite but declined the offer of a pint saying that he'd already ordered one.
As he turned away from the bar with his pint, he did a double take because my brother was standing in his way playing air bass & singing the bassline to Down In The Tube Station At Midnight.

Think I've mentioned this one before but many years ago I was in the Hippodrome when they did a heavy metal night. Went to the gents for a lash and as I am standing there Dani Behr walks in in a tiny strappy dress and says 'Sorry but there's a long queue for the ladies' and she went in the stall behind me. She must have been desperate because she was in there ages

Mick Jagger sat behind me in E Block when we played LIverpool at home.

It was a night game. MW if your reading this youll remember it.

He wore one of those old fashioned duffle coats with the horn style buttons. Looking back through QPR records must have been 21/12/84. We lost 0-2

Mickey Most often sat in front of us as a father & son who ran RAK records with him had season tickets.

Graham Poll sat in front of us a few years back.

captains fantastic

Sat at a table near Deborah Harry at a show at the Roxy in west Hollywood.

Sat right by Wilt Chamberlain at a USA- East Germany track and field meet at the LA colosseum.

Spent some time on Willy Nelson's bus with predictable results.

I walked past the Italian football guy from channel 4. And Paul Morley. In the same place. Euston Station. It was whatever.

Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore.

Walked past Tobey Maguire and got a hello in a quiet street in Sydney when he was filming Gatsby. Went home told the missus and she didn't believe me. Sure enough a couple of weeks later theres an interview with him in the paper saying on his days off he goes and explores random suburbs. Wish I'd have invited him in for a cuppa.
