The Central League 05:53 - Aug 6 with 6047 viewsspell_chekker

We're supposed to be entering a reserve team this year.

I can't find a fixtue list but PNE (the current champions) have published theirs.

We're playing them away on Tuesday 27th September at 2p.m. and at home on Tuesday 24th January at 1p.m.

It looks like the season is starting on 23rd August.

21/09/2022 14:00hrs Blackpool v Bolton Wanderers
27/09/2022 14:00hrs Preston North End v Blackpool
02/11/2022 14:00hrs Blackpool v Huddersfield Town
09/11/2022 14:00hrs Accrington Stanley v Blackpool
07/12/2022 14:00hrs Wrexham v Blackpool
11/01/2023 14:00hrs Bolton Wanderers v Blackpool
25/01/2023 14:00hrs Blackpool v Preston North End
15/02/2023 14:00hrs Huddersfield Town v Blackpool
01/03/2023 14:00hrs Blackpool v Accrington Stanley
29/03/2023 14:00hrs Fleetwood Town v Blackpool

Some cracking fixtures there. The matches were great the last time we competed even though Grayson paid lip service to the competition.

Seeing as though we've been starved of decent cup runs we're also entered in to the Central League Cup.

I'll post precise details at some point but I think there are mini leagues or pools where the top 1 or 2 go through to the semi finals. Like a World Cup set up !!

We're in group 2:

07/09/2022 14:00hrs Blackpool v Accrington Stanley
12/10/2022 14:00hrs Fleetwood Town v Blackpool
16/11/2022 14:00hrs Carlisle United v Blackpool

https://www.efl.com/contentassets/18fcb8850c1143a9aa08dcaffba04ff0/central-leagu

If I'm working from home on any of these days I'll do my best to cover the games.

It'd be good to have the matches streamed on YouTube.

The fixutre list has been revised and there's a game tomorrow, at home to Bolton.

It seems to be a competition for the development squad. On the club site it says the development squad will be in "frequent" action so I'm assuming that doesn't rule out appearances froçm fringe players and others recovering from injury.

Our home matches will be played at Bamber Bridge.

We've got Fleetwood, Accrington and Carlisle in our pool for the cup.

Tuesday 23 August — Blackpool vs Bolton Wanderers, Bamber Bridge FC, 2pm - WON 2 - 1
Tuesday 30 August — Blackpool vs Fleetwood Town, Bamber Bridge FC, 2pm - CANCELLED
Tuesday 6 September — Blackpool vs Accrington Stanley (Cup), Longridge Town FC, 2pm WON 1 - 0
Tuesday 27 September — Preston North End vs Blackpool, Springfield Training Ground, 2pm - CANCELLED
Tuesday 11 October — Fleetwood Town vs Blackpool (Cup), Poolfoot, 1pm: WON 2 - 1
Tuesday 25 October — Blackpool vs Huddersfield Town, Longridge Town, 2pm: WON 2 - 0
Wednesday 9 November — Accrington Stanley vs Blackpool, Venue TBC: DREW 3 - 3
Tuesday 15 November — Carlisle United vs Blackpool (Cup), Frenchfields Penrith, 1pm: NO INFO - POSTPONED??
Rearranged: Tuesday 15 November — Carlisle United vs Blackpool (Cup), Brunton Park, 1pm: WON 2 - 0.
Tuesday 6 December — Wrexham vs Blackpool, Nantwich Town FC, 1pm
Wednesday 11 January — Bolton Wanderers vs Blackpool, Lostock, 1pm
Tuesday 24 January — Blackpool vs Preston North End, Bamber Bridge, 1pm
Wednesday 15 February — Huddersfield Town vs Blackpool, The Millers Oils High Performance Complex, 1pm

There are only 11 players, no goalkeepers at all, listed on the official site as being members of the development squad and at leasyt 2 of them are left backs.

Either U18s qtepping up or fringe players will get a game.

Think the Club and BB must have some sort of agreement, as we also send them quite a few youth players on loan.

I'd prefer it if we played more local as well

I think this is another photo of their League of Ireland signing, Eion Tol. They seem keen on him for some reason:

I don't know if there'll be any club updates or if we've got a BFC journalist present.

There's stuff from L1 Bolton and their journalists and their first eleven've got a League Cup match against Villa tonight:

The team's mainly composed of first team squad members who need minutes on the pitch for one reason or another.

And Grant Ward.

Donkor, Trusty, Apter and Bange are the development squad players starting the match.

The whole reason is to play in the same style as the first team. Continuity.

That's why there was no point in continuing with Critchley's 4-4-2.

I'd wager that some of the staring line up are players we want to either sell or loan out.

Virtue, Hamilton and Lubala ... even Thorniley?????

Maybe trying to find loans for the development squad players.

Goal Blackpool 1-1

CJ Hamilton races through and hits the upright, it falls to Beryly Lubala who is taken down before he can get an effort at goal.
Lubala steps up to take the resulting penalty and calmly dispatches in the bottom left corner.

HT: Bolton 1-1 Blackpool

Seasiders had plenty of chances in this one as Bolton make rare forward ventures.
Smartly dispatched penalty by Lubala. Good tempo for a Central League game but Blackpool will likely be thinking of those missed chances.
