It’s instinct. Natural. Most species on this planet will look after number one, their family and their territory. We aren’t any different. We’re just great apes at the end of the day.

FF. Ive always aid and been hammered for saying so ,we are a ragged nation of insular, narrow minded, reactionary, sentimental fools who live in the past and are too prone to hark back to old scores. It's tough to accept but by doing so,it would help us .I say us as I am born bred Welsh and gifted and stained with such ancestry . That Putin s action are compared to Wales proves my point. There are many who feel as Trampie .

Yeah you have. You got the north south divide in England. There’s even growing independence movements in places like Cornwall and Yorkshire. You’ve got all the difference of opinion in Ireland, based largely on religious grounds. You have the basque and catalonians in France/Spain. The divide in Canada and french Canada. The remnants of the civil war in the USA is still being felt between old union and confederate states. There’s tribalism and tension in virtually every African state. Hong Kong and China, Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan. It’s rife everywhere. There’s literally no nation on Earth that doesn’t have internal tensions like you’ve just described. It’s pretty mild in wales in comparison.

We don’t have to agree. We are lucky in the fact that apart from the bombs dropped by the luftwaffe there has been no real open warfare on welsh soil since the 1640’s, apart from that time Lazare Hoche tried to invade Fishguard.

Absolutely Sir. #Its really genuinely good to exchange with you. I am pretty well read regarding your postings there and Ive been to both Quebec and Ontario and know the score there. There is a language but French they are not ;they just peak a barsydised version and its comical to French people. It is a vast state. Wales is miniscule in comparison and the difference between say Cardiff and Caernarfon are greater than that of Quebec City and Montreal. Jeez, Swansea Llanelli is pretty tribal and so it goes.

Plaid MP compares Putin’s claim on Ukraine to England’s treatment of Wales on 17:40 - Mar 5 with 845 views | cockett_jack | I understand the point the MP was trying to make and don’t think it should be vilified, just criticised for being in incredibly bad taste given the circumstances and a bit of an exaggeration. But that’s what Welsh nationalists do, it’s in their very core, to exaggerate the appetite within Wales for independence etc. and exaggerate the ‘brutality’ of what is akin to ancient history. I honestly don’t know how some of them get through life obsessed with the narrative and martyr/inferiority/oppressed mindset. They talk of self determination etc but most people in wales don’t agree with them! Must be infuriating.

Plaid MP compares Putin’s claim on Ukraine to England’s treatment of Wales on 09:40 - Mar 3 by onehunglow | Wales is not a sovereign country It is not on the flag of the United Kingdom -OUR -country,the country of your passport ,apart from Eire that is. Wales was incorporated into England by the Act of Union;it's why it doesn't feature of the UK flag. For many/most outside Wales it is not a proper country.Fact. Ukraine is. It is that simple. |
Wales is definitely a nation. This cannot be debated. It is a fact.

Plaid MP compares Putin’s claim on Ukraine to England’s treatment of Wales on 09:32 - Mar 3 by onehunglow | If Palid were in power then any country at all would be able to invade and take over within a day. This statement disgusts all surely. We are seeing thouands killed ,kids included, a whole massive country under the Russian jackboot. How many tanks have rolled into Wales, how many columns of soldiers have shot up Ely,The Hafod and Aberdare. Palid are a shameful stain on Wales,a pacifist ,feckles and irrelevant bunch of hypocrites without the sense to see how England has stopped Wales from starvation. To make any comparisons with Ukraine is appalling. I pray this stays inhouse as I feel filthy simply reading such garbage. Is this where Wales is. Permanently suffering from chip on shoulder? |
They did not stop Ireland starving.

Plaid MP compares Putin’s claim on Ukraine to England’s treatment of Wales on 10:17 - Mar 3 by Catullus | So you are saying that decent people agree with you then? If we don't then we are little Englanders and imperialists? Insulting much? PS, people do have the right to choose, Scotland got their vote and chose the Union. Here in Wales the majority want to remain in the Union too. [Post edited 3 Mar 2022 10:18]

Plaid MP compares Putin’s claim on Ukraine to England’s treatment of Wales on 17:48 - Mar 4 by Flynnidine_Zidownes | Wales historically at most was a motley crew of petty kingdoms who spent most of the time beating the shit out of each other. It was only united as a single state for around 7 years in the late 11th century. The gavelkind succession that was common amongst Celtic kingdoms meant that upon death territory was divided up which led to more smaller, weaker kingdoms that carried on fighting, whereas the Normans and other later English dynasties used primogeniture succession which meant the kingdom generally stayed intact upon death which preserved their power. This is largely why England could stay large and strong whilst wales was constantly being divided into smaller, weaker kingdoms bickering amongst themselves. |
You are judging the welsh by the English definition of a nation state. Cymru was a nation and is a nation. True we are a nation that fought each other but thats life. Similar in north america and NZ, different ways of the indigenous people to live does not make them less of a people or a nation. You are seeing things through English eyes.

All the people in England identify as English never been any call for any English area to want independence. Even the house of York, who were defeated by the Welsh Tudor King Henry, are happy being part of the UK.
