A Club United - Crowdfunding 12:14 - Jan 28 with 61068 viewsUpTheDaleNotForSale

So it looks like the Trust and Club need to raise c.£130K to fight the legal action being brought by Morton House.

Its a big number, so probably worth collating any information into one thread. We'll need the wider football family to support our club now more than ever.

I wonder if Morton House will start their own fundraising page after seeing the excellent start to to his one?

I’ve donated. Share the link far and wide. It’s a costly defence, but let’s turn the tables and once again show our collective strength.

Do Morton House MGT and First Form Construction Ltd (‘Morton House’) have the balls or means to take this all the way? We shall see, but the board of directors and Dale Trust aren’t going to buckle, and will be supported by Dale fans and football fans from across the country.

I think a lot Briels depends on if those who have launched the action stand back and look at it.

The sell from Bottomley was that this club could not survive. It was potless and on its knees financially.

The white knight investor was sought and the sell to us punters was we were getting a training ground. We needed a training ground. We must have a training ground.

It was all a distraction.

The punters though saw through it and voted accordingly. People were removed by shareholders and the club was put in safe hands again.

Then out of the blue in July 2021 came the hostile takeover. Not investors from an Emirate state, not Americans or Russians or Chinese investors..... it was a payroll company.

The EFL charge said payroll company under their regulations and began to investigate. The payroll company said they would "look to divest at the earliest opportunity"

The EFL investigation as of today has been live for 5 months.

The crowdfunding being spread far and wide puts pressure on the EFL and also the game to ask itself about how investment in football actually works.

If our 2,000 season ticketholders put in £5 per person each month this year that is £10,000 per month.

And that's before:
* Fans of other clubs
* Former players
* Corporate sponsors
* Secret millionaires

Any excess is donated to Rochdale AFC Football in the Community Trust, a registered charity, which carries out community work and charitable projects.

I think that the point you make about season ticket holders (and others) being sought to put in £5 a month should be promoted RAFCBLUE,it's something that could take off and help with the costs significantly

Could a story and links about this be put on the "news" page on this website. Don't know whether it's my settings but all the stories on that page are ancient. If there are any newbies visiting this site they might not know where to look for the link to donate.

The five pounds per month is a great point.

An advantage is the total keeps moving, that will creat momentum and therefore make it less likely to stall.

Yes it would be great if we could get 2000 people donating 60 quid each straight away but it is unlikely. This needs to be for the long haul

There is a great interview with Simon Gauge on BBC RM from yesterday about the legal action & crowd funding (33:20 onwards)... there are also good interviews with Stockdale & O'Connell in the ten minutes or so before.

We're sharing this as far and wide as we can on FB too, but it would be great if people could share the interview / link etc into other local community groups on FB, and keep sharing and tagging people on Twitter. Interest is growing and growing in the story, but with such a big target to hit the more people that know about it the better.

Was asked the following question on Facebook

'Surely if the way they acquired shares is against EFL rules, they can be stripped of the shares?'

Put the following link as my response https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58292083

Please advise if there is a better/more appropriate response to that sort of question.

A great listen and Simon Gauge impresses me with his comments and actions.

I am a convinced advocate that we should adopt a model in England, in which EFL clubs and clubs in general should have 51% ownership by the fans.

https://www.daletrust.co.uk/2022/01/use-to-easyfundraising-to-boost-crowdfunding

With the Trust seeking funds to help defend the legal case from Morton House, you can now raise money towards that using Easyfundraising.

Since our partnership with Easyfundraising began, we have raised over £5,000 through Dale supporters doing their online shopping using Easyfundraising as their starting point.

So with the Trust looking for donations to support the legal defence against Morton House, you can now support this through Easyfundraising. Our current total stands at £5,145.23 but from now on, every penny over that £5,000 total will go directly towards the legal defence against Morton House. This in itself means that we can add another £145.23 to the total.

But this is when you come in, whether you are a Trust member or not. All we want from you is to visit Easyfundraising before making any online purchase. Even better, download their browser plug in, and it will remind you if you are making any purchase from a website they partner with. They have hundreds of household names associated with them, and no one is asking you to make any purchase that you wouldn't ordinarily be making.

It pretty much covers all online purchases from hundreds of well known companies. Getting any insurance comparison website and taking out cover will bring us £15 a time, holidays are big winners for us with the percentage that it generates, and even if you are getting a takeway, we make money from their tie in with JustEat.

The beauty of this scheme is that it is the retailer who makes a donation back to us, and it does not cost you a penny more than it would have done in the first place. It literally is free money to us.

To date, we have just over 300 Dale supporters who have registered with Easyfundraising, but with close to 1300 members, we are still looking at pushing members to sign up. To show just what can be achieved, five Dale supporters alone have contributed close to £3,000 towards that figure. Furthermore, Newport County - a similar sized club to our own - haved raised nearly £23,000 from 500 members.

Would any fans have an objection to cash collections at games being deposited into cylindrical objects with either an open top or
slotted lid and with a carrying handle?
Also perhaps bar top collection tins at the ground and in pubs throughout the borough?

I think it has to be done, perhaps there should be a small flyer too explaining the situation so that its clear that the money is not for the club itself?....
11 home game remaining x 2000 x £1 £22,000 into the pot with virtually no pain especially for those who dont engage with social media. And maybe visiting fans will pitch in too?

For anybody wanting to share with their personal networks, we have created an easy to use QR code that links directly to the crowd funding page.

Every time somebody points their phone camera at the image it will link them straight to the campaign - a nice and easy way that everybody can raise some awareness.

This is a great idea. Just scoured the house for loose change and surprised how much I actually have. This will all be put into the collection box tomorrow.

Great - I have rather a large jar of copper that I wanted to bring up and didn't want to bring it with me if I couldn't get rid of it !

Will the amount raised tomorrow be added to the crowdjustice total so we can see the total money raised so far?

Hopefully at every home game. I also have a jar full of copper and 5ps, can't make Saturday's game as self isolating but would intend to bring it to the next match.

If you don’t want to have to carry it up to the game on Saturday I’ll happily meet you on our local or call round for it?

The money will have to be counted and banked before it can be transferred to the Crowd funding appeal so will not be before Monday
