I think if O’Connell plays that game we win it. McNulty and Taylor were a terrible partnership. Dooley could’ve won it for us but his shot was as poor as his performance.

Odoh was really bright, and Beesley impressed. Overall I’m not too worried. We played well in parts and with so many players who’ve only just set eyes on each other for the first time it’s going to take a while to gel.

Lastly, I’m with rkeershaw and D_Alien. How moronic can the flare throwers be? What a great idea to do something to delay the game 5 minutes just after we’ve scored and were in the ascendancy. And, as if that wasn’t bad enough, they gave one poor girl an asthma attack.

How did Graham look when he came on? The injury time goal is obviously frustrating but it’s nothing to be concerned about - we’ve got a squad who have had four or five days to get used to one another.

Give it a month and then performances and results will give us a better indication of where we’re at.

This is a fantastic interview. There was more honesty in four and a half minutes there than we had in a whole season of drivel from BBM.

EOC definitely back next Saturday (maybe Tuesday) and Swiss Army Jimmy saw a specialist about his shoulder yesterday so we’re waiting on results.

Agree 100% couldn't ask for more in an interview, its nice to hear a manager actually not talking clichéd bollox and trying to hide whilst blagging the fans, fair play RS you're spot on about the conceding 3 goals bit, it will come good 👍

We have changed manager, coach, board of directors and are are fihting off a hostile take ove. Everyone attached to the club, players, management, board and supporters will have been unsettled and distracted to different extents.
So an away loss to kick of the season is both the worst and most forgivable result at the same time. Didn’t anyone seriously doubt it would be a bumpy first few week. Can’t be despondent tonight. We have a team, an away support and under the control of the board so many have been striving to support.
UTD

P.S. the interviewers will need to change their rose tinted glasses questioning to RS pretty sharpish.

I've watched every post match interview of his over the years and never seen him so gutted and uncomfortable in front of a camera.😢 Extremely stressful days ahead and if the team lose again on Tuesday the pressure will certainly soon mount. This is his first managerial job and he definitely knows he can't mess it up.

Thankfully you all seem nice and patient - that's really important to him I think. So fingers crossed things will get going as soon as possible. It won't be easy though... 🙏🙏🙏

It's a bit like addiction - the first step is identifying and acknowledging the problem before you can fix it. BBM refused to. Robbie confronted it head on. You get the feeling that he won't tolerate nonsense in any context. Just what we need.

There’s little pressure on him at all and his interview seemed like most of his others for Dale so far. Analytical, honest and determined.

How many did you lose by?

3-0?

4-0?

Oh it was 3-2 playing away on the first day of the season, not only that but you came back from being behind 2-0 to 2-2,there are lots of strange results on the early games of the season while the team gel and get to know each other,it wasn't a massive loss and there would have been a lot learnt by the team and manager, not a good result obviously but definitely not devastating

That game was lost in the first 10 mins... not the 91st.

Big Jim was abysmal throughout. Hardly won a header, slow to the ball, indecisive.

Taylor had a slow start but seemed to grow into the game, as did O'Keeffe.

Dooley was shit as usual. I really can't be arsed watching him any longer. How he got a new contract I do not know.

Newby was excellent, Beesley really good, Odoh positive but lacking a bit of end product.

It was nowhere near as bad as some of BBMs defeats.

Possession with progression.

Agreed, it seems we now have a "Boss" and not someone who wants to be one of the lads. BBM got lucky when he took over from Hill and was able to replace hills tactical spaghetti and verbal drivel with simple words and deeds. There comes a time however when groups need an actual leader not a pal or a shoulder to cry on.
Stockdale will explain what he wants and how to do it and they either do it or sit on the benches is my guess. Some may not like it but they will know exactly what is required.

BBM seemed overly concerned about not upsetting players and knocking their confidence. It may sound harsh but if any of our players feel aggrieved at Stockdale's comments in his post match interview, should they be a professional sportsman?

Dooley is Jeckyl/Hyde ...... Messi about once a game (if we're lucky) and Messy the rest. I'm where you are - we can do a lot, lot better.

The numpty in the stand completeley ruined our momentum with their idiotic flare throwing act.....gave them a chance to regroup when we add them on the ropes after going 2-2!!

It was a mixed bag of performances - some good, some not so good.
I thought Newby and Odoh looked good. Gave the opposition something to think about and weren’t afraid to go at them.
McNulty I’m afraid looked off the pace. Dooley and Morley in midfield offered very little.
You have to think that Stockdale will see the same things we do and will be looking to change around what didn’t work in that game. I felt like we were going to create chances from the start and we did, and we scored two. If we can get the defence sorted and keep things much tighter we should be fine because we can get goals with this team.
A long way from a great result but I’m still optimistic that we can and will do better.

I'm glad the flare throwing is getting the negative posts that it deserves. We came out for the 2nd half all guns blazing and that just killed off any momentum and let them regroup. Really don't understand the mentality of some people

Fully expect Graham/EOC/Taylor to occupy the CB positions this season. Unfortunately, Big Jim is way way past it based on this performance. Can understand RS putting him in for the first fixture but should be glaringly obvious another CB (or maybe use Dunne) should be targeted. Graham looked like a man mountain at RB so looking forward to seeing him at CB.

Dooley is one of the most bizarre players I have seen. Some touches of quality for the goal, but tackles like he's playing Wednesday night 7 aside in Heywood. He could have had 2 goals and an assist yet scores 5/10 for me.

It will all come together once the full squad is recruited...hopefully 😅

I wasn’t able to go today due to a long-standing family holiday in The Lakes.
Perhaps we underestimated the strength of Harrogate on the pitch after deriding their amateurish organisational efforts off the field?
Over the years there has always been at least one player who has been the butt of the crowd no matter what and it seems that Lynch/Morley/Dooley are early contenders this time around.
The fact that Morley was made captain today shows that the manager sees something in him.
Perhaps some players are still brainwashed into playing the old BBM way and it will take time to adapt?
It will be interesting to see how many changes are made on Tuesday.
No-one really expects Jim McNulty and Andy White to play three games in a week so here we go again, no recognised leftback.
In fact, I suspect that that Jim, if asked six weeks ago, would not have expected to be playing today.
It’s just the first game of the season though and strange results always crop up - given their much publicised troubles who would have predicted an away win for Swindon this afternoon?
Having said that, we suffered at Swindon’s hands 12 months ago and went on to rue the result.
I agree with the earlier comment about a ballwinner in midfield as well, eg Stephen Dawson, Jonah, Cavanagh

Not a good game for our new manager, but it should have taught him plenty. The starting 11 today will see us near the bottom of L2.

McNulty inparticular was hopeless, whilst Our left back looked out of his depth. Lynch in addition should be doing better for all the goals.

I'm struggling for many positives. Apart from our new manager seems to be as upset as I am and best of all...Bottomley wasn't there in his hideous blue suit.

Robbie sounds more than a little frustrated in that i/v and rightly so.....BBM would have fast talked about how we were "in control for 90 mins" etc etc....Robbie saw what we saw. Poor start and mountain to climb thereafter.

How many seasons have we said McNulty is a carthorse and here we are again ruing another shocker...and he's the guy teaching our kids "how it's done"......Robbie inherited BigJim following his very fortuituos contract renewal from BBM...Would he be here otherwise, I think not?

Same with Doolittle......another BBM leftover.

May be a bit of over reaction. Early days and team still knitting together . Let's get at them midweek and put this one to bed.

White, out of his depth? What the hell are you talking about? He's got more pedigree in his career than anyone in the squad

He's not match fit and it was a risk playing him but give the guy a chance ffs before making ill-informed comments
