Only surprise really is that we’re negotiating with Dooley and Done. Other than that it’s as expected.

That depends upon Agent Bottomleys version of 2wks......

Think shaugnessy stinks of a mutual consent termination of contract, of course the club would not say that, but maybe he told some home truths and made his position untenable.

Would not surprise me!

It'll be interesting (mildly) to see where he rocks up next. He must think he can do better than stay with Dale in L2; turning down the option of a further 12 months' wages (if that's what's transpired) suggests he has a higher opinion of himself than his form showed

Is it daft to presume the contract he signed, included a drop in wages if the club was relegated?

Or am I giving the club too much credit?

Silly me.

Every player should accept a drop in wages following relegation... on the flip side there would have been huge bonuses for promotion....

Bit harsh to suggest he's getting above himself. It might be as simple as maybe him wanting to return home to Ireland or maybe even teams below Dale in the pecking order have offered him a better deal that you can't blame him for taking.

Would read to much in the player part of mcnulty’s contract, i think it’s a just in case scenario , as for Shaunessy , it could be his agent (they all seem to have them nowadays) told him to refuse it as he could get him a better deal or when he signed he agreed to 18 months, he had the option to extend

That's why it'll be of interest to see where he ends up - it'll give us an indication of whether i'm being harsh or not

Like this season he'll be a last resort and will spend most of his time playing in bounce games along with the kids. Just like BBM did.

I’ve never been Jim’s biggest fan (playing wise), but can see his enthusiasm and what he adds to the club - this could be our most important re-signing imo

No real surprises there to my mind apart from Shaughnessy.
With his build he could have been an asset in the lower division.
So why all the cloak and dagger stuff? This could have been announced days ago.
I don't think that Done would have been offered a new deal if we'd stayed up but he could do a job in L2.
As for Jim McNulty I think he could slip seamlessly into the mentoring role once enjoyed by BBM himself.
And the temptation has been resisted to keep the players with recurring injury issues which is good.
What's the timeframe with out of contract players? How long do they have to accept or reject their offers?

I think its a joke offering McNumpty anything but the door. He is a very poor defender and I cant see what he could coach players to become better.
A chance to get rid of the loser and we dont ...very sad. As for Shaunaessy he can go hes not that good , infact he would struggle in L2.
Shame BBM hasnt gone ...

You only have listen to what the youngsters who McNulty has mentored to see what regard they hold him in. He was Adshead’s travel partner. Luke specifically references him in his farewell blog. Tavares cited Jim coaching him to watch the opposing centre halves movement when he was sat on the bench, to understand how he might impact the game if he came on.
He has had a long career as a lower league centre half, just like another player come manager we had, and that fella became our most successful manager ever.
The level you played the game at has little or no bearing on your ability to impart tactics to those you are coaching. I have no issue with this role for Jim and I reckon Tony Ellis is please the club made the offer.

100% correct.

Jim McNulty has a lot to offer this club off the field. His experience and knowledge, combined with that of BBM is invaluable to the younger players in what is essentially a very young squad.

Players like Adshead, Tavares, Matheson, Morley, Baah will all have benefited from his input and advice on the training pitch and when you mention Tony Ellis, he is as important as any other club employee you could name. The development of the youth players who recently won the Youth Alliance Cup is a massive feather in his cap. The signing of Peter Thomas on professional terms is a great testimony to his work.

Let's put aside for a moment, some of the utter sh!te that is going on at the club and remember that there are still positive things happening 'downstairs'.

Jim Mc may well have his better playing days behind him,but he can still play a massive role at the club form the sidelines. I'd be glad to see him take on such a role as BBM did, whilst KH was here.

100% this, I think he probably expected to nail down a starting 11 place. Potentially help us stay up and raise his profile.
Will never know but it wouldn't surprise me if he never had any intention of staying with us past this season.
If we can keep Lund, Morley, Rathbone, Grant and Brierley. I'd rather he wasn't at the club and we can use the budget on either a midfield battler or elsewhere in the squad.
Let's be honest most people would put him 5th or 6th down the line at present.

The most positive thing about this list is that we'll have to address the defence! Lets just hope we can bring in the right players.

He as only himself to blame for that.
If he was consistant then maybe he still be at Dale come July.

Sounds like he had the i played for Leeds a big team attitude.....

Why is there a lot of assumption that he is some sort of Big Time Charlie just because he turned down an extra year? There could be a myriad of reasons, and until they come to light give the guy a break.

I cannot see many teams coming in for Done, Dooley and Lynch, so I will be amazed, if they don't sign. Again Keohane is your typical lower league journeyman, so i think he could also sign, after last season was possibly his best at the Dale in terms of performances and goals.

EOC and Lund is another matter, I could see them at somewhere like Salford or Bolton next season.
