Yes, most upsets are when a lesser team is playing at home to a top team. There has been a lot of research into why home teams win more than away teams and they found the main reason was the influence of the home crowd on the match officials. There are usually stats for players' top speeds during a match, and how many kilometres they run. I wonder if those figures have fallen during these matches played in empty stadiums?
Also, I wonder whether that helps Vestergaard because he looked much more comfortable in our last match than he ever did before. He obviously must have impressed in training, which is why the manager kept picking him. [Post edited 29 Jun 2020 15:06]

What about the travelling and often poorer facilities for the away team and just the general unfamiliarity of surroundings? Cortese obviously thought this was an issue with his specialist mattresses for each player and taking our own food etc... |  |

Almost no effect according to the research. When there are no crowds, there is no home advantage.
The mattresses were to stop them picking up bacteria and viruses from hotel ones, which would have affected them more in the following home game. | |
