Oddly in the 80s I had a soft spot for Luton and the reason was that they were one of the few teams who for a while held a bit of a Hoodoo over Liverpool who we all despised due to too many kids at school glory hunting them. (Man Utd of the 90s) I think Luton beat them a couple of times in the league and knocked them out of the FA Cup in 87. For that period, I rather liked them.

That 3-3 draw in the cup when Francis did the long walk across the pitch, was a really depressing sight to see a once great manager look such a beaten man
Happier ones was the Ferdinand double to relegate them in 1992, i flew back home from holiday that day wearing my lucky shell suit and just made it to Loftus Road in time to see the game.
That 6-1 win that Clive featured the other day was special, Wilkins, Sinton and Wegerle were unplayable that day
Games in the late 80's were usually tense affairs, they had a good side then with Stein, Hill and co.
Paul Walsh making his debut for us in Francis first year, think that was our first win under Francis 1-0 at Luton

Went up there with 10 others as Stan had given us tickets in the back of a Luton bloody van that broke down, did not get there till about 30 mins in.
Long time no post, life has had a habit of getting in the way for the last few years. However; getting back on the Lootown track. I was born and raised in Bletchley and my old man, being a Latimer Road lad, saw nothing wrong with getting tickets for me and my mates to go to see the RRRRR's at Lootown each season in the mid 70's. He saw nothing wrong with us rocking up to the coach with our silk scarves (remember those) tied round our wrists and blue and white ones round our necks. Nope, nowt wrong with that, so what if it was the local Lootown supporters coach? It was going to the same game wasn't it? Can't see an issue there at all. My how we laughed as we stepped up on to a silent coach with an atmosphere so frosty my nipples fairly burst through my QPR top. Halcyon days. I remember one trip where they had only given us one half of the away end and there was a line of copperse separating the two rival factions. Lot's of "bantz" and threats being slung across from each side. Then at half time the line of coppers marched off for a cuppa. There was a stunned silence and then absolute effin' pandemonium. We got pushed back by a surge of MiGs and my mate got his foot caught behind one of the terracing uprights; which meant he couldn't go back. We stood our ground for a bit before the thirst quenched Old Bill returned in a fit of pique and started lashing out right, left and centre. After the game one of my mates and me, in our youthfull infinite wisdom, thought we'd go for fish and chips before catching the Lootown supporter's club coach back to Bletchley. This meant making our way down an alley by the side of the stadium. As we strolled down a Lootown upstart was giving it large and we were just squaring up when a copper on a horse came down the alley, picked the upstart up by his hair and pushed past us with said yoof in tow. More laughing, and fish and chips and a frosty trip home. I have no idea what the score was, it's lost in the mists of time. But the experience is a lasting memory and a good reason to dislike the lot of 'em.

I think that’s some of the best footage of Rodney Marsh playing for us that I’ve seen. Looks quality. Always surprises me how little he gets mentioned on those all time best QPR eleven threads.
A Christmas/New Year (?) match in the early 70s. Can't remember the score, but I limped home afterwards. The away terrace was so cold I couldn't feel my feet. I swear to this day I had the early stages of frostbite in my toes.

We were promoted as runners up to Burnley that season. Givens was our top scorer with 23 league goals. Clenent made his league debut in the 66/67 season.
I did check with the Gordon Macey book Queens Park Rangers A complete History before posting as I knew we didn't play them in 1974.
I wouldn't know if we played a friendly there.

We did Head to Head 31 Aug 1974 Luton Town v Queens Park Rangers 1-1
I've just rechecked & Luton were in Division one for the 74/75 season & we drew 1-1 with a Bowles penalty.
I got it wrong again!
The reason we had tickets from Stan was I and others were playing for Rangers FC (Local team) at the time, Stan and Don use to help coach us, I was also at Enfield FC at the time as a 15-year-old
