Emiliano Sala 'exposed to carbon monoxide in plane crash'

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-49345186

Footballer Emiliano Sala, who died in a plane crash over the English Channel, had been exposed to high levels of carbon monoxide, a report has revealed.

Sala and pilot David Ibbotson crashed on 21 January when travelling to Cardiff from the French city of Nantes.

Toxicology tests on Sala's body showed CO levels in his blood were so great it could have caused a seizure, unconsciousness or a heart attack.

Mr Ibbotson, from Crowle, North Lincolnshire, has still not been found.

But it is likely he would also have been exposed to carbon monoxide, the Air Accidents Investigations Branch (AAIB) report said.

Geraint Herbert, head of air accidents for the AAIB, said it is believed both men were exposed to the gas before the plane crashed.

"Symptoms at low exposure levels [to carbon monoxide] can be drowsiness and dizziness, but as the exposure level increases it can lead to unconsciousness and death," he added.

"The investigation continues to look into a wide range of areas in relation to this accident, but in particular we are looking at the potential ways in which carbon monoxide can enter the cabin in this type of aircraft."

And how are your superstar offseason recruits going?

It's not like clubs aren't going to go to CCFC full stop. But they wouldn't be a first preference. This debacle hurts the brand of CCFC.

Why do Bournemouth acquire such good young talent every offseason? Because it's an attractive destination. Small club who rose up from L2, who have a good reputation for development, and continue to defy the odds. And their state of the art training facilities are on the way. It's an attractive proposition. Even look at Burnley. They spend next to nothing, but managed to finish 7th a few seasons ago and play in Europe. They also defy the odds, and operate the right way.

The point is, what will Cardiff be best known for? People will remember this. They will also remember PL failure, Warnock, and unattractive football. Why do Cardiff sign so few players on loan?

They are the same calibre we've been getting, Flint, Pack, Glatzel starters rest as depth.

I'm glad you've had to backtrack on your "no other clubs will deal with Cardiff" when confronted with actual facts.

Bournemouth do play some nice stuff, granted, but let's be honest, small club it's a money thing. Let's not conveniently forget they pissed all over FFP to get promoted.

It's a silly point to make saying that clubs won't deal with Cardiff in future. Clubs her desperate, where there's money to be made or losses to be cut it happens. It's why clubs still sign the Lee Hughes and Luke McCormack's of this world.

I also think it's silly of any fans to claim their club wouldn't do the same. Until the same happens, who knows? Quite frankly, hope this scenario never happens to anyone else.

Bournemouth cheated their way out of the Championship, abusing FFP, they are hardly a paragon of virtue

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

As an aside, that just shows how poor FFP rules are.

In Bournemouth's case, maximum loss they could have had the year they went up was £6m. The actual loss was £42m. Couldn't be docked penalties or banned from signing players - Prem League a different competition than Football League.

So, Prem fudged it with a fine. £1m fine for every £6m of the loss. So, fined £7m in a season where the bottom team got £107m in TV rights.

That's why so many teams are abusing FFP in the Championship - go up, no real penalty. The only deterrent is you're screwed if you don't get promoted.

For the good of the health of these clubs, they should be barred from promotion if they exceed the maximum loss. There need to no other complicated sanctions then as they obviously wouldn't do it.

Sorry mate that won't wash and glad it didn't with FIFA. It's got fvck all to with whether any other club would do the same or not and you can't make the assumption that they would. This is about Cardiff City and their shameful actions. Makes no difference whatsoever whether you think anyone else would do the same.

If the truth be told I suspect that no insurance cover was in place, so the full cost will come out of their diminishing coffers.
This will seriously effect their ability to sign anyone of substance in the short term.

Eh? The decision has zero to do with what any other club is doing.

What I'm saying is there are those here with faux outrage who maybe wouldn't applaud your owners if they did the same but sure as hell wouldn't condemn it.

That "no insurance" claim started on Anus message board.

Someone allegedly overheard club official saying that on the phone when at someone's house that evening. Not particularly plausible.

Now if the insurance was invalidated, that's a different argument.

Who says they haven't accepted it? If the club received certain legal advice, then will want to see he rationale behind the decision to see how it tallies with that advice.
