Think my wife's car may have a slow puncture, Which companies in Swansea will consider repairing a run-flat tyre? The pressure warning light came on a couple of days ago and I found the pressure was about 30 PSI compared with 35 PSI on the other side. Now the warning has appeared again. The car is only 7 months old and the tyre has never been deflated,so that there is no possibility of sidewall damage from having been run flat. However, I understand that many of the national chains won't consider a repair. Does anybody know who will?

I've had a halfords autocentre repair a run flat tyre for me after i drove over a nail. It was a London branch and only cost £25 as an extra to a normal service. Surely a Swansea branch could do the same.

Give Steve a ring at Smartyre. He comes to you as well. I wouldn't dream of going to a tyre place now. You can discuss it with him over the phone and he’ll say whether it can be done.

Get the other one to fix it
Thanks for the replies. Obviously one should have the tyre assessed, but the word on the street is that the big chains will just say a run-flat cannot be fixed period, when several of the manufacturers say that a puncture in the 'permissible area' can be repaired with the right equipment. I am not sure that a mobile service would have that equipment, and so wanted to know which local companies will at least consider a repair on their premises. I will probably start ringing a couple of places, but rather hoped somebody might have more definite information.
Still not sure that the wife actually has a puncture as the wheel now showing up on the car computer as a fraction low is a different one, but I would like to know about the options for the future as run-flats are over £200 each.

Usually, whenever a run flat tyre has a puncture, it will tell you so on your car computer. It is normal for the computer to show a tolerance.

Possibly so. This computer, on a BMW, shows a small warning triangle in the light cluster, and creates a notification. When one clicks on notifications in the computer menu a display on the main screen advises that although the car is safe to drive, the tyre pressures should be checked. A couple of days ago the display showed 2.5 bar on three wheels and 2.1 on the remaining rear wheel. I then helped my wife out by checking all four wheels with a pressure gauge and topping up all to 35 PSI. All seemed well, but last night my wife said the triangle warning had popped up again. However, on checking this morning (after I posted my initial message), there was very little variation, with one rear showing as 2.5 bar and one 2.4 bar (not the same one that previously showed 2.1). I reset the tyre settings in the computer, and there was then no triangle. I'm wondering whether the issue was that I did not reset this the first time, but the odd thing is that previously the warning triangle disappeared for a few days without a reset. Anyway will see what happens over the next couple of days. It would still be handy to know what reputable tyre businesses will consider repairing run-flats.

Try Phelps and Williams, Beaufort Road. I used to use them years ago. They will be in the book as long as they are still going. Independent place.

Gawd. Is £200 a dealer price? It's more than double what I used to pay for Pirelli runflat tyres for my 3 series BMW.

It can certainly be repaired if not in a sidewall/edge. I had mine done at Malvern Tyres (King David/HiQ etc) for £13 all in less than a year ago, after driving 90 miles on it with a nail in (it wasn't losing much pressure). I think my father used to go to TownTyres and they repaired his a couple of times. I've ditched the hateful shitty run flats since for normal tyres, some repair kit, and a good recovery contract. Still £500 cheaper than the equivalent run flats, and most punctures are slow enough to get home. Better still the car is drivable without removing my fillings, rides like a dream, and it handles ten times better. Why BMW and others insist on ruining their carefully engineered cars with this shit I'll never know. Surprise surprise they put normal tyres on their M performance cars.

Sorry, just hate the things.
Actually the car is an M Sport Model, supplied with Dunlop run flats at the end of last year. i agree that normal tyres would be better.
Still not sure there is a puncture, but thanks to everybody for ideas of where to go.
