It’s more likely the insurance would not pay out until the death had been formally verified.

That sounds cold but it’s probably the case.

If they couldn't pay without an insurance payout what were they planning to do if he hadn't died?

If Cardiff are not paying as they are trying to find a dodge in the small print that they think will get them out of it, they had better tell their fans who have left tributes and those that are saying things like
'Once a bluebird, always a bluebird' etc.

How can he be a bluebird if they are trying to get out if paying for him?

At the moment, according to the Club hierarchy, they are grieving for a player that had not signed for them.
Pay up.

RIP Emiliano Sala.

Pathetic post, you are almost as insensitive as Nantes, who in my opinion are acting with indecent haste.

Sala was only confirmed dead yesterday evening, we are talking about an initial £5 million payment that is one of three payments spread over 3 years.

Tan has paid to repatriate the body, we all have no idea about the insurance issues involved, their might even be criminal proceedings, so let's at least wait for the dust to settle before accusing

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game
Poll: Happy to see Martin go

Every club has life insurance for its staff, even one as messed-up as ours.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Thing is buddy, when is the time ever right? These are money men who are driven by just that. If any our loved ones die, the undertaker/funeral directors arnt long in wanting paying.

I have just watched the Welsh news. Sala holding a Cardiff shirt with Choo at the Cardiff City stadium. Tan offering to pay to repatriate the body. What more evidence do you need they considered him their player. All they are trying to do is see if there is anyway they can wriggle out of paying the transfer fee.

Tan is doing the decent thing FFS.

in paying for the repatriation agreed but withholding the transfer payment no. It just shows Tan like everyone else considered the guy a Cardiff player yet they are looking for a legal loophole not to pay the transfer fee.

But it's not an insurance issue. Nantes are to be paid for the transfer not the death.

When he was confirmed dead is irrelevant. He was confirmed transferred 3 weeks ago.

The unforeseen is exactly why insurance is taken out, Jasper.

Clubs pay a premium then Lloyd’s, or whoever it is in this instance, step in in the event of a tragedy like this. Cardiff will be covered.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

There was nothing unforeseen about Cardiff buying the player then being expected to pay for him. They should have the money waiting to be transferred. If they don't then serious questions would have to be asked about whether they ever intended to honour the deal (which I'm sure they did).

Losing the player and covering their own losses via insurance has nothing to do with Nantes. Hiding behind successive steps of the investigation into his disappearance and death in an effort not to pay is incredibly disrespectful to his memory.
