QPR could leave H&F on 14:49 - Feb 7 by BostonR | It's about business. I would not be surprised if the QPR Board have had discussions with interested parties willing to buy Loftus Rd or develop a joint venture vehicle. It's unprofessional not to call-out or challenge an opportunity that would improve your business footprint. If the other party say "feck-off" in my experience that is not the end - just the start of the negotiation. Given what we are after, being nice will get us no-where. Unfortunately, as a club we are likely to crap-on a number of parties/stakeholders to get what we want. |
Having been working my way through local planning issues myself just recently my whelm is considerably undered. Planning offices are understaffed and often appear to by directed at the whim of local politics. Bang out of order though to demand change of ownership publicly of a company just because things aren't going your way. makes them look exceptionally petty and completely Ignores all economic and community benefit which the club has done (including Grenfell) to support the local area. Suspect that we aren't offering the value that a strapped H&F feel that they should have and are looking to drag another pound of flesh.

QPR could leave H&F on 08:33 - Feb 7 by Konk | Brief response as I'm popping out, but Fulham agreed to finance works in Bishop's Park and open up the riverside walk as part of our redevelopment. I don't think we're acquiring any council owned land, so we didn't need to negotiate the price of any land with them. Had we done so, then I would have expected the council to drive a hard bargain as is their obligation. Not sure about Chelsea, but I think the land they've acquired was privately owned? The spokesman for the council seems to think Fernandes asked for the Batman Close land for free. |

Cargiant had very little interest in development till QPR wanted a stadium there Now they back out, were they ever going to fulfill. Saying that Sadiq Khan is a waste of space, blames everyone else.

But the article and the complaint by CarGiant seems to be about Boris Johnson and his setting up an organisation which wasted money. To be fair that would be typical of many things he did as Mayor wasting money on pointless, poorly thought through projects (thames garden bridge or water cannon vans anyone?). Khan's sole part in this has been to generally pause and review many of those schemes or structures to avoid further waste. In this case he has merely expressed disappointment that having talked themselves up on OOC, Car Giant (partly owned by one of the UK's biggest property developers) have withdrawn, essentially blaming that they cant make enough money from it. All a bit sad, but hey, that may mean there is now space over there for a stadium after all

QPR could leave H&F on 00:25 - Feb 8 with 2445 views | PunteR | Remember this image? Apparently we were to have a new stadium by 2018. I dont trust TF ,never have. Our current owners are not the ones to take our club forward. For whatever reason they havnt managed to convince anybody that they can successfully make the the transition between football grounds . Its just one of those things.

QPR could leave H&F on 10:01 - Feb 8 with 2298 views | BazzaInTheLoft | Get used to rhetoric like this from Labour councils. This is Labour’s manifesto pledge on football ownership. Even the most cock eyed right winger must agree this is a good thing surely?: ENGAGEMENT/OWNERSHIP: "Football clubs are an important part of many people’s identity and sense of belonging. They are more than just businesses. But despite their importance in the lives of their members and supporters, too often there are no effective means for fans to have a say in how their clubs are run. Labour will provide the means for supporters to be a genuine part of their clubs. We will introduce legislation to enable accredited supporters trusts to appoint and remove at least two of the directors of a football club and to purchase shares when the club changes hands." | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Fans on the board - good thing. Total fan ownership - well, varies from club to club. At our club at this point, for instance, it would have to be a fan that's got north of £8m a season to prop up what the club costs to run on top of what it brings in. Basically every club in this league loses money to a greater or lesser extent. I'm not sure you'd find too many happy paying punters if we dropped a division or two in order to be owned by the supporters. And Christ can you imagine being that supporter on the board? You get unmerciful grief from so-called QPR fans for daring to run a website or a podcast, imagine if you actually put yourself up to be on the board!

QPR could leave H&F on 10:34 - Feb 8 with 2223 views | NW5Hoop | The common thread in every one of the rows is the board. The board making grand announcements or unrealistic demands. And then they act all shocked when people say no. These people did not buy QPR because they love old stories about Stan Bowles, or because Rangers won the League Cup from Division Three. They did it to make money. The only way they can make money is by a combination of being in the Premier League and selling Loftus Road. They brought Jamie Reuben, a property developer, on to the board. Their end game is not a sustainable QPR, it is redeveloping LR, with QPR in the Premier League, then skedaddling with full pockets. They are not the good guys here.

If they bought it to make money then they have a long way to go to even claw back what they have already lost. There is a difference between the Board and the owners as well. Lee Hoos seems to be the bloke making it sustainable,. I am not sure he owns any of QPR?

This new stadium won't be either, look at the cost already, how are we going to get the money back? Football is rapidly changing, clubs our size will die, it's the way of the modern world. When we say goodbye, I want to be at Loftus Road.

I just love the way the club seems to be playing some warped game of Chicken with the council over LC Perhaps Fernandes and Hoos forget that this is the same LBHF council that put on a brilliant open top bus and town hall celebration for QPR finishing second (yes second) in League One.
QPR could leave H&F on 12:41 - Feb 8 with 1940 views | stevec | Fernandes says he needs some back up from QPR supporters, not much chance of that looking at some of the latest comments on here. Supporters on the Board? What planet are you on? As Clive points out, unless you've got about £8 mill a year spare change in your back pocket you're value to the board is the proverbial square route of fck all. Does anyone genuinely think TF is ever going to make money out of an association with this club? We have been permanently skint for as long as I can remember, no one, not even the mighty Jim Gregory got rich via QPR. Stadiums cost money, big money, and money does NOT grow on trees. The only way it'll get paid for, at least part paid for, is by developing Loftus Road. ''Stand firm H & F''? No wonder this club goes round and round in ever decreasing circles.
QPR could leave H&F on 12:58 - Feb 8 with 1884 views | toboboly | Having listened to the podcast I don’t think we can believe a word Fernandes says. We definitely wouldn’t buy more players if we had the money- yeah right We always wanted to bring youth through-really...yet when we were awash with cash you did nothing in that area We have learnt so much as owners -it’s taken 8 years and you still score twitter own goals Etc etc He doesn’t have a clue.

Can only speak for myself, but I would happily sit in league one or league two if it means community ownership. I Appreciate I am a minority in this view and it will probably upset Hunter and few others at the suggestion that a socialist solution is the best one. I’m not trying to wind anyone up, this is my core belief that privateers are the cause of all of British and world football’s ills, even with the insertion of untold billions of £s that comes with it. Even with those billions, the majority of us sit here today as fans are of QPR with fck all to show for it. No stadium, no training ground, no representation, nothing. Just 10 years of frustration really. I can’t see how community ownership could have done a worse job, even if we dropped to league 2. Does anyone think AFC Wimbledon fans have had a rough ride since community ownership? Nine promotions in eleven seasons, and overtaking their hated rivals in the league? In exchange for the loss of finance community ownership would cause, we rid ourselves of speculators who wish to use QPR as a vehicle to push busnesses that provide no benefit to anyone in the QPR / West London area. The sole benefactor of the current board is Tune Group / Air Asia who had a well placed advert in the Premiership when they were there. Now they no longer have that they want to rape the social housing around White City instead, to fill the commercial hole relegation has brung. We are just a financial vehicle to them, as are most things in their life. I’m sure TF and everyone else has a soft spot for QPR and wants them to do well on a emotional level, but don’t be fooled into thinking they won’t drop us like hot turd when the profit opportunities dry up and it becomes financially viable to do so. I’d rather play Boreham Wood on my feet with the community with me, than Man City on my knees pouring my hard earned money into a low cost airline ferrying middle class Asian around a continent 10,000 miles away.
