If you vote conservative 23:54 - Apr 27 with 6075 views | burty | Huge benefit cuts are in the pipeline under Conservative plans, the IFS said PA Millions of poorer families face massive cuts to their incomes under Conservative benefit cuts in the pipeline, independent researchers warn today. Nearly 3m working households with children on tax credits would be an average of £2,500 a year worse off, if the plans go ahead. And 1m families with children and nobody in paid work would be £3,000 per year worse off on average, the respected Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) said.

If we elect a Labour government I dread to think of the cost to the tax payer......for generations. Borrow/Spend and leave the country in the crapper. I wouldn't trust them again with the countries coffers! Move your Momentum orientated members away from any sort of control and elect a decent leader and you may have a chance👠

The Tories are now borrowing more than 'reckless' Labour would have under Ed Balls' 2015 election plan, according to Britain's foremost economic experts. In its analysis of Philip Hammond 's Autumn Statement, the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) revealed borrowing will be £16 billion higher in 2018-19 than Labour's plan. IFS research economist Thomas Pope said: "This really is a much weaker fiscal position than we anticipated at 2015 election" He said the increase in borrowing was from a combination of worse than expected economic forecasts and an increase in spending on infrastructure projects The difference between labour and the tories when it comes to the need to borrow is that labour are honest about it [Post edited 28 Apr 2017 9:01]

They said they would increase it last time and the tories slaughtered them for it. Now you'd think the Tory supporting minions would see through them this time around being that they've borrowed more than the 'reckless' labour had planned but no, they are falling for the same jibberish yet again. May hasn't said a lot since she took charge but what she has said has turned out the he lies, yet still people trust her.

Nobody would have any children if we didn't have benefits to top up wages. How can families survive on minimum wage/zero hours/flexi contracts. I have colleagues in work who don't know whether they are working 8 hour week or a 48 hour week with no job security. How can you plan when you don't what your take home pay is. The jobs are not out there with decent wages and job security. If you want to get people of benefits, you need to double the minimum wage(which is unrealistic) and full time hours. If the gap between rich and poor continue to grow sharpen your pitch folk and bring on another French revolution.

I disagree. Go and get a full time job with hours, they are out there. You will always earn less money the further west you go. If you want to chase the coin, leave the doldrums of south wales. Which, incidentally, is Labour run. I am en employer and I can't get people to an interview in, we have taken on a lot of youngsters (paid full wages, contracted 39 hours), some are great, some are not but the ones who are not think the world owes them a living. Getting people off benefits needs a mixture of slow, incremental minimum wage increase, which the conservatives are doing. Not humping it up to £10 an hour for anyone over 18. And decreasing benefits available, which is what they are doing also. Zero hour contracts are a different matter. There is a place for them in this country but some employers do abuse them. It is a very hard problem to manage as some people rely on them.

Substantially increasing the minimum wage would surely just reduce the jobs available and force more people onto benefits? Nothing wrong with benefits. A lot wrong with benefits as a viable alternative to work.

Totally missing my point. Tories biggest bargaining tool in the last election was that labour would borrow, borrow, borrow and riddle the country with more debt. The country fell for it and the tories have borrowed more and riddled the country with even more debt than they slandered labour for. They are now doing the same again with the same lies and people still fall for it. At least with Cameron the tories had someone who could blag his way out of his own bullsh*t, May is just a car crash waiting to happen.

This is what gets me. Successive government over the last 40ish years have seen any industry we once had as commodities to be sold off to the highest bidder with no thought to the long term. Now the proverbial chickens have come home to roost what do they do? They demonise the unemployed and make divide and conquer benefit porn TV shows about them., taking the attention away from the bigger picture.

But cutting payments to the work shy and single mothers who sh&g for benefits and housing are perfectly acceptable. So some of these work shy households will be £3000 a year worse off? So how much are they on at present for doing sweet F A ? Corbyn would probably just give them more of the tax payers money.

The other difference of course is that we've had a vote to leave the EU in between, which has damaged economic forecasts going forward and changed a lot of plans. They've also pointed out an increase infrastructure spend - I thought that's exactly what Corbyn wants more of?

The financial crash damaged economic forecasts going forward and changed a lot of plans for labour, they didn't get to use it as an excuse tho. The difference of course is that labour weren't to blame for the crash but the tories are very much responsible for the way Brexit went due to their arrogance and naivity. Yes they've pointed out an increase in infrastructure and yes Corbyn wants more of it, but it's still borrowing that they said they wouldn't do and that they slated labour for wanting to do.
