The Official Rugby World Cup Thread on 07:47 - Oct 18 by SwansNZ | It does not help that world rugby decide to make the draw 3 years out from the cup, when a lot of teams are rebuilding from the last one. |
Balls to that, draw it today while we are ranked 4th!

The Official Rugby World Cup Thread on 09:48 - Oct 18 with 1178 views | perchrockjack | I ll explain Pross We re a tiny nation and a divided one at that. We go into a competition against teams with a comparatively vast playing base ; we get hammered by injuries months, weeks, days before and lose key squad players . We meet an England side at home clearly belittling us,an Aussie team simply inspired and a Saffer team looking to smash our aching bones. We fall short right at the end. We also have to put up withy dubious referee decisions and not for the first time Our captain comes to the mike immediately after the whistle and is grace personified. People like that

Yeah but surely just getting out of the group isn't anything special? Or is it I don't know?

I know f*ck all but surely getting out of a group containing one of the tournament favourites (Australia) and the hosts (England) is something of an achievement?

Kind of, though I can see where you are coming from. To use another football analogy, we are 8th in the FIFA rankings. Argentina, Columbia and Brazil are above us, so rankings wise we are 5th in Europe. It would still be a great achievement to get to the knockout stages in France | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Losing the cowpoke really hasn't helped. e couls run angles pythagoras hadn't contemplated. We have spoken about Cuthbert's loss of form and belief but in that break in the first half the George North of old would have gone outside the full back and given him a Devereux palm off before running under the posts. Such a shame, if he and Cuthbert were on form we would be facing Scotland today or NZ next week.

I don't suppose it is, but beating England and knocking them out is something I will cherish for the rest of my life. A great effort carried out with great dignity. I feel immensely proud.

The Official Rugby World Cup Thread on 07:31 - Oct 18 by Darran | As I've said I'm not a rugger fan but could someone explain to me that with Wales now being one of the top ranked teams in the world how getting out of the group stages is doing the nation proud? |
Good question. As far as I can tell it's been business as usual. Standard defeats to the top Southern Hemisphere teams even though one of them was two men down for a bit, and get knocked out at the second stage.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |
