The Official What is Leanne f**king Wood up to now thread 09:21 - Apr 24 with 18429 views | Cottsy | Here you go Trampie, your own thread to keep us all up to date on what Leanne f**king Wood is up to right now. What colour dress is she wearing? Has she given an also comprehendible speech to young farmers in Porthmadog? Has an obscure polling company given her a 0.4% increase in her approval rating? Are her bowel movements regular and of a good consistency? These are things we need to know! Don't forget to add liberal doses of casual sexism to your posts, maybe the odd w@nk fantasy of Leanne f**king Wood lezzing up with Nicola Sturgeon and some photos from your personal collection of Leanne f**king Wood's hair, nail clippings and bodily fluids. It'll free the General Election thread up for people to actually discuss rather than have to trawl through the minutiae of Leanne f**king Wood's life, which is just a happy bonus.

The Official What is Leanne f**king Wood up to now thread on 15:04 - May 6 by perchrockjack | Leanne from Rhondda? Never heard that before. Adam Price? Now we re really talking big. What about Swansea East/West, Cardiff, Newport, Wrexham, all industrial former heartlands. I cant imagine there being many Plaid lovers in Townhill, Sandfields,Hafod, or Manselton. I remember well much antipathy towards Plaid Cymru and even to the Welsh language . You re kidding nobody ,kidder. You alsohave to bear in mind that being so poor,Rhondda Fawr and Fach are utterly at the base any economic wealth and this is what has to improve, notthe percentage of Welshspeakers, not the welsh learners index. Wales wont become richer by speaking welsh more often, its a complete irrelevance and the language was the basic of Plaid s creation.,ie primarily welsh speaking orientated. Just to let you now when I was a kid my mum used to sing ;she was a beautiful and powerful mezzo and was invited to a National Eisteddfod and went only to find her inability to speak Welsh made her an outcast and she was shunned in a petty and vicious way that shamed any pride I had in my country. We can be a spiteful, shallow, inward looking shower . anyway |
That para about your Mum is very sad but things seem to have changed a lot. Myself and my wife volunteered at the Eisteddfod at Velindre and, although not speaking a word of Welsh were made very welcome. As a result the two of us took Welsh learners classes for 5 years. Dw i ddim yn rhugl though (was that right ?).

Completely agree. If all the people who say the same thing (that the Welsh Labour party care only about the South East and don't need to worry because they'll always be voted back in) decided to vote for one specific party other than Labour that would be enough to unseat one of the regular Labour donkeys. Maybe then they might listen. How do you organize something like that ?

If an English company is employing Welsh speakers to work in local Welsh speaking schools then the money is going into the local economy because that's how a local economy works. Or are they employing Welsh speakers from Eastern Europe who are sending money back to the former Welsh colonies?

It's already happened in Blaenau Gwent which went from being the safest Labour seat in the UK to having having an independent MP, AM and independent controlled council but it didn't end well. The council were incompetent and were a whisker away from ending up like Anglesey council, there were tourists in Cardiff Bay with a better attendance record than the AM and the MP's only achievement was to try, unsuccessfully, to have pigeon racing recognised as a sport. Blaenau Gwent is now one of the safest Labour seats in the UK again.

Me mum still alive btw and still sings at 87 yrs old mainly in chapels in Neath/Dulais.Swansea valleys. Ive a long memory and not that forgiving as a person. I stand by every word I say however regarding the language as I see a more vibrant and wealthy WALES before one with more Welsh speakers, whom I actually do not hate mainly because all my father s family were Welsh speakers and still haver friends who are. HELL ,Ibe also worked with a GOG from Caernarfon who always thought in Welsh first. anyway

oh come on. In a time where there is transparently a rampant surge in nationalist sentiment, anti 'London' politics and definite differences between the effects of austerity measures on Wales and more affluent areas of England, for Wales to have had more Conservative gains than Plaid gains is astonishing. When you also bear in mind the exposure that Leanne Wood has had this election compared to previous Plaid leaders if the party had any sense at all they would get rid of her immediately.

Continued proof that the appetite for Plaid's brand of Welsh nationalism is basically non existent.

The Official What is Leanne f**king Wood up to now thread on 06:30 - May 8 with 2122 views | Lord_Bony | It is a bit bewildering how Wales has swung to the conservatives. All in all a sensible vote I think for Wales in general but to me it says a lot more about the rejection of the Labour Party in Wales...a traditional stronghold. That party has really lost its way/identity flirting in the middle ground of politics with the conservatives themselves. It's sad to see the party I once loved diminish into a shadow of its former self. After Blair it has put off a great swathe of the population from having confidence in Labour for a long time to come. Also, it does nt look good in the leadership stakes for the future of Labour. The people of wales have spoken.

Well I certainly didn't expect the much vaunted 'Welsh Spring' to actually mean that Gower was springing to the Tories. Wales deserves a much more optimistic, vibrant, positive voice shouting from the rooftops about its potential as a wonderful nation than is provided by the dour, stuck in the seventies brand of Leanne Wood socialism, who seems to be constantly moaning about how poor everyone is and how sh*tty the 'Valleys' are.

A lot of Welsh people are all for dour 70's Socialism. Just as long as it's provided by Labour and not Plaid.

Yes - I don't understand it. It hasn't worked so far so not sure why it should work in the future. It makes me sad how little Wales has been mentioned at all tonight - we don't have a voice at the moment, and Plaid (certainly in its current incarnation) isn't providing it.

I've been saying it over and over for months, Doc, though it has given me no pleasure whatsoever as someone who would uphold Plaid's founding principles. In terms of voting percentage, despite holding on to the three seats Plaid have polled significantly less across Wales as a whole than UKIP who have none. [Post edited 8 May 2015 10:19]

Millband was a dud, always has been and he s been outed, so you look for the alternative which were Plaid -in Gower- OR Conservative or UKIP. COOPER, if elected will prove to be a nemesis for the party. CAMERON HAS A BIG JOB ON and uniting this divided island is the priority.

The scots will be bouncing with self confidence and belief this morning. Wales is just nothing; unimportant; forgotten. Much of Wales with a few exceptions will now probably continue to plummet towards being the poorest region with the least influence.

And yet... Wales has just elected more Tory MPs than the majority they will have. Now if the electorate could put pressure on those Tory MPs to start standing up for Welsh interests, ironically Wales will have a bigger say than the SNP who will just sit there unable to influence anything even though they have 50 odd seats. They are 50 odd worthless seats in a lot of ways.
