Would you want Europa league next season? on 08:13 - Mar 2 by ItchySphincter
Of course. W can moan about it when we get there. Until then lets concentrate on getting there.
i wouldn't even moan about it when we are there. A club our size the Europa is probably best chance we have of qualifying ever for CL with a bit of luck.
A yes from me. European away days are something special. I can appreciate the argument that we should get more PL money behind us first but if the opportunity arises I say go for it. We will either have to ensure the squad is strong enough to rotate or, falling that, we have a shadow team to pay in cups and Europa with a strong bench for support. We did it with some success last time and that was with unprecedented injuries.

My worry is that a Europa canpaign would hit the league form. Disasterous financially to get relegated next season and miss out onthe increased in the broadcast rights the season after.
If you can fill the unforgiving minute.
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

That is a valid concern but I still think we can accommodate both provided the injuries don't rack up. Our reserve team competition is cr@p so we could use the extra matches to keep the fringe players up to speed. I assume we would be in the qualifiers again so the early matches would therefore be easier.

Yes. And if we get there I will want us to win it too. Being in the Premier league has become such a holy grail Iately, it seems to have sucked the essence of being a fan out of a lot of fans.

Next season is the time to win it as I think the winners enter the CL the following season in addition a great draw to attract quality players in key positions. We have tasted competing in it once so will be well aware of the difficulties.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think we will qualify this season and if we do, I don't think we will win it. I absolutely want us to do both though.

Absolutely loved the experience, even though we lost the two games I travelled to see (St Gallen and Napoli) and missed out on everyone else's highlight, Valencia!
It's what we follow a football team for - glory, glory days. I'm sure if we set ourselves up sensibly, we can compete without endangering our Premier League status.

Definitely 100% yes - as others have said, it's what being a fan is all about. Only managed one trip last time (St Gallen) but would love another opportunity.

Ask anyone who went to Valencia, that trip will be talked about in 20 years
I remember being high up in that dodgy stand watching that blazing sun set over the city as we cruised to victory. A wonderful sight. Even the armed police behind us were good natured. Then back to Benidorm where we were treated like heroes as all the punters had watched the game on TV. Not the most important away trip I have been on but without doubt the best!

I went to Valencia but thought Malmo was a better trip (staying in Copenhagen)
Big massive yes from me

Even though it was a nothing game I really enjoyed Ploiesti, their fans were incredible. Valencia was also great and so was Napoli despite the defeat - still can't believe Wilf missed that header to make it 2-1. Would love another crack at it next season, preferably not Kazakhstan or Azerbaijan though.

Europa league was a great experience, although the results were a little bit of a let down after such a great start. It was a fantastic occasion and liberating to know it wasn't the end of the world if we lost a game, also a real confidence boost to see us take on some European Giants and come away with our heads held high.
Life is an adventure or nothing at all.

what do you want for the swans, an increasingly important question.
it appears people want different things:
- free flowing football - high number of points - European adventure - Cup Run - Big name signings - consistent wins - consistent performances - a big name manager - a stadium extension - not being relegated - cheaper tickets - the opposite to whatever anyone else wants just to bicker on a message board :)
I'd like to see us in Europe again, lets enjoy the highs for as long as we can - who knows what's round the corner, another season in the Premier League will do me though!

Having seen the swans in every division, win and lose at wembley and millenium stadium and win proper and minor silverware, my only thing missing from my swans do-do list was Europe. Having done malmo I only regretted I couldn't afford to do more. It's a risk but it's also the reason we follow our team. Otherwise we just hope we finish mid table every year. We've only won 1 bit of major silverware in 102 years so I don't feel we can knock this sort of opportunity should it arise.

When you look at that again, and also at Darren's rainbow photo, it's almost tempting to think that the good times are here at last.
Then you wake up to a thumping by Spurs and Liverpool and more disappointing draws against the likes of Hull and Palace and you realise it's not a ski lift, it's the teacups

Yes, there will always be bumps along the road but you really have to cherish the good times or there's no point in doing it at all............ like this close up of their electronic scoreboard taken 5 minutes before the sunset one.............
