Any New Choons? 10:04 - Jan 20 with 4299 viewsBrianMcCarthy

I'm off on the hols in just over a week, and looking to get a playlist together. Anyone discovered anything since we did our Best of '14 list?

Belle and Sebastian's latest is well-made and plenty will love it, but it's not my cuppa at all, and I was looking forward to that.

Any discoveries? Thanks as ever.

For something a bit different, Prokofiev's 3rd piano concerto. Dazzling playing, great pace and mood swings, and all over in about 25 minutes so you don't feel you have to spend your life getting into it. I have this version.

Same team live...

I have derived a great deal of enjoyment from "The Graceless Age" by John Murry.
Often simple sound - guitar singer songwriter - and v interesting background story to the artist (I'll say no more), the songs are the really powerful thing here.
Absolutely cracking (occasionally) rock n roll album.
Get on board.

Wow...just looked him up on Youtube and this is the first track I listened to. It's crackin'!

Thanks ichbin.

Twee? You say that like it's a bad thing.

I parted company with Belle and Sebastian at the end of the 90s when I got interested in Latin music. Not sure if it was them or me. In my opinion, their 1998 EP 'This Is Just a Modern Rock Song' has really stood the test of time. I will post something from it on Friday's music thread.

I don't listen to anything contemporary, but I had a look around on Youtube and to my surprise I was able to find a couple of things that I liked...
