Caesar leaving Toronto on 17:31 - Jun 7 with 1494 views | cheeseydane | If its really such such a hardship to leave and have to come back to loftus rd, then simply negotiate a cancellaction of the contract, and off you go. Of course, the greedy fooker wont though.

Caesar leaving Toronto on 18:28 - Jun 7 with 1474 views | VancouverHoop | Neither would many – if any – players. We also have SWP and Hogan Ephraim (until this summer) on our books doing little or nothing. César's getting the attention because, we all assume, he's on a massive wage no one will match. We could play him but choose not to, that's not his fault. Exactly why we don't isn't clear, other than we're paying him so much he's untradeable. Be a good question for HR or TF, but I don't think I've ever heard it asked directly.

Caesar leaving Toronto on 18:55 - Jun 7 with 1446 views | ActonOccident | The MLS helpfully publishes a list of all of its players' base salaries: http://www.mlsplayers.org/files/April%201,%202014%20Salary%20Information%20-%20B They list Cesar as being due the grand old sum of $192k for his services for the season. At the current exchange rate of $1.68 to the £, that comes to £114k. How low does an optimist want to estimate his weekly amount here at? £45k? Toronto's contribution doesn't even cover three weeks at that figure.

Caesar leaving Toronto on 13:01 - Jun 7 by Antti_Heinola | here's our position: 'ah, we're in a right old mess here! we gave you a stupid contract, promised you the earth, and now we're relegated (not your fault, we know, you did fine, actually). Now, would you mind leaving so we can save some money?' Here's Cesar's: 'Sure, if I can. Obviously would prefer to get what I'm owed roughly, though.' Other clubs: 'QPR are desperate to sell, the stupid idiots over-stretched themselves. He's a good keeper. If we offer him much less than he's earning, QPR might pick up the difference, just to get him off the books. The idiots have the Brazil captain and they're in a position where they effectively can't even demand a fee for him! Ha ha! Over a barrel!' QPR: 'We're fked.' QPR fans: 'It's all your fault, greedy Brazilian.' Sorry Clive, I'm all for following and supporting your team, but the club takes 100% of the blame for this mess. |
Wife: I know it's Luiz party but are you really going to wear that, aren't they QPR's rivals? Hero keeps: no it's ok QPR are just a small club not proper rivals, probably why they need to pay so much more money that anyone else nobody will mind. This a petty reason to dislike him, but it doesn't help. Nobody to blame apart form us for offering that contract. Dont dispute that. But What some posters seem to be missing is that at their jobs they aren't jeopardising a World Cup in their own country - what should surely be the pinnacle of any footballers career because they wouldn't take a pay- cut. For me he is a lot of what is wrong with sport.

In May I wrote, " I really hope we never see Cesar again. True he can make some flamboyant saves, sometimes against all odds, by sticking out an arm or leg in desperation but he parries or punches rather than catches, flaps at crosses, stays on his line, not a great kicker and generally doesn't seem integrated with the defence. What really irked me was hen he had a bad game or two and blamed an injury; at Southampton he was having a torrid time and sat down asking to be taken off. Boy was I relieved when Green came on as sub - remember those saves he made? I'll take Greeno and his occasional lapses any day!

Caesar leaving Toronto on 12:52 - Jun 7 by 08olesen | While he is ours, he should get our backing. Lets not pretend we know what is going on with his contract because none of us have a farkin clue. He has always given his all when he plays. I would still like Green to be our keeper, but Cesar is still an awesome keeper and so i dont really mind. Its also worth considering that some of these players had nothing before the they became a professional footballer and so to turn down 2 million quid would be hard if it could help generations of their family financially. There was a quote from Eto saying that exact thing, when he went to Anzhi. Not saying its right though. |
There are few subjects that still divide this fan base like this particular 'controversy'. Cesar is still the Brazil #1, and Green arguably should be in the England squad. But green is out of contract and to balance books could look for a number 2 elsewhere to play behind Green. Green might be close to cult status right now, but he wasn't after that first game in 2012. but he's captain, he is going to the world cup, and he lifted the Confed Cup last year. How has he jeopardised anything? He found a club. A lot of presumptions going on here. Cesar is incredibly respected within the game by players and coaches, which says it all for me.

It's swings and roundabouts with those two.One is better at crosses, one is better than the other with shots across the body. One can hoof the ball, one can't.Can't really see much difference overall. If you're going to employ Cesar please get some defenders he can just roll the ball out to - defenders who can pass and beat their man if needs be, not somebody constantly slicing it into touch.

Caesar leaving Toronto on 10:41 - Jun 9 with 1188 views | TacticalR | A while ago somebody posted a video of César's spectacular saves for QPR. In nearly every case the saves were from a standing position. I think César's greatest weakness is not that he doesn't come off his line, but that he *doesn't move along his line*. That is why he was so often rooted to the spot when he saw that he couldn't get anywhere near an incoming shot.

He jeopardised his spot by not going out on loan to one of the Italian clubs when the opportunity arose. As it happens he's been OK because other Brazilian keepers have not done a great deal in the mean time. But it stands to reason that any player who willfully takes himself away from first team action with more than a season to go before the world cup runs the risk of losing his spot. Who knows what might happen in the mean time - managerial changes etc. I'm not being presumptuous, I'm saying it could have gone one either way - i.e it jeopardised - obviously it worked out for him and he's on the plane. Also if you're right about how incredibly well respected then does it strike you as strange nobody came in with a decent offer? I get that they may have been put off at first thinking they could get on the cheap, but eventually when it became clear we were digging our heels in you'd have thought one of his global legion of admirers might have stumped up.

Most clubs aren't stupid enough to employ 2 keepers on first team keeper salary. So a club has to be sure he'll be their first choice. Most 'big' clubs wouldn;t see him as a first choice keeper, so wouldn't pay the asking price, however much they respect him. Which leaves mid-table clubs and lower-table clubs of the few leagues that have the sort of money floating about to pay, I would imagine at least £50k per week before QPR would consider it worth doing. When you see it that way, that's actually a pretty small pool. And from his point of view, there could be lots of considerations - his family's wishes and so forth. Now, all this may be nonsense and he may be a greedy, horrible b'stard. But they seem to like him at Toronto. Ryan Nelsen, who QPR fans were pretty much in love with, seems to think he's a very good chap. He has a huge collection of medals and will captain Brazil at the World Cup. Brazil. For him to move all this needed to happen: 1. He needed to be happy. 2. A decent offer needed to come in that QPR would have accepted. 3. His family needed to be happy. Now with Mbia, Park etc this did happen, albeit with QPR no doubt heavily subsidising their wages. But as Jamie points out, did an Italian club make an offer? And if so, what were the terms of it? What are we angry at him about, exactly? for not taking a pay cut? For not being good enough? Both? For me, all of this ill-feeling is misdirected when in fact Hughes and Fernandes were the ones who sanctioned this ill-advised signing.

Everybody agrees it was a bonkers signing. Nobody knows all the facts. I think it stinks. I think he could have moved on if he's wanted and should have done. I think he put money ahead of a World Cup in his home country (jeopardised etc etc). My reading is completely consistent with what we know for sure. Your reading is as well. We just see it differently - perhaps you have a more optimistic view of humanity!
