Garry offered two year contract on 21:41 - May 3 with 1938 views | magicdaps10 | Full support to Garry and I believe he can do a good job. The backroom staff needs a few new faces with an experienced man or two on board. Think there could be a overhaul as said in previous posts with the playing clientele and a few more British based players brought in this summer. Im not going to worry about it to much at present and just enjoy the summer with the world cup and transfer shenanigans and see where we are come the first game of the season and see how it develops then. Well done and good luck Monky boy.

Garry offered two year contract on 21:18 - May 3 by epaul | Whether people like it or not, he's the man they've picked, get behind him, |
I'm in the holding my head in my hands brigade on this one mate. We will get behind the club as always but this is the big frigging league. We won't increase the stadium capacity yet expect to compete against sides with so much more income than us and now don't have a fancy name to attract top players. Even the brass have said they want to bolster the back room staff indicating they acknowledge shortcomings. Good god, I hope I'm wrong on this but what I saw today shows what happens once the motivation angle is lost.

Garry offered two year contract on 21:42 - May 3 with 1931 views | FearOfAJackPlanet | You get the feeling the board have always wanted this...the bootroom promotion. Find someone within the club to groom for management, someone who has soaked up the best of the succession of great managers we've been blessed with over the past decade etc. I just think they've identified the wrong guy for that role; The wrong guy, far too early. You get the impression they always saw this as their next move after Laudrup and have never entertained the thought of looking around at other options. I could go on and list a number of major doubts, and the word hubris would no doubt crop up a lot in relation to the board, but if it's all done and dusted, I'll just join the 'happy to be proved wrong' gang and look forward to taking up my seat on the season 4 bus; and, having never thought we'd ever get a visit from the season 1 bus, I'm proud as f*ck whatever happens. Garry offered two year contract on 21:32 - May 3 by Dr_Winston | Neefy said the same. I honestly can't predict what kind of player we're going to be after this summer. All the recent activity from the club would suggest that they're going to be targeting cheapies, but they've never failed to back a manager before. All I know for sure is that Monk is going to need better players to choose from than Championship midfielders or Middlesborough reserves. |
We don't need a great deal though do we? It all depends on who leaves. Bony is the big one, I don't really fancy us going after another top striker again. Is Michu gonna come back? Is Ash gonna sign a new contract? The squad needs tidying up a bit that's all. We've got too many senior players just lingering around and doing naff all. The transfer dealings in Jan weren't great but we were woefully short of players at the time.
Garry offered two year contract on 21:47 - May 3 with 1881 views | AngelRangelQS | I'm in the "hope I'm eating my words" camp too. From where I'm standing it looks like a big gamble. Done a decent enough job this season in tricky circumstances but whether it's the right decision does remain to be seen. The board must really rate him if they haven't even considered other candidates

The definites - Right Back. Left Wing. Striker. The maybes - Goalkeeper. Centreback. Potentially five player required, all capable of playing in the Premier League. It's not a small job by any means.

Goalkeeper to replace/compete with Vorm Right back to replace/compete with Rangel Holding midfielder to compete with Leon Winger to complement Routs & Dyer Central midfielder to compete with JJS Striker to back up Wilf Add a centre back into that if Ash leaves.
Garry offered two year contract on 21:51 - May 3 with 1838 views | Neath_Jack | It's going to go f*cking bonkers on here when Emnes is announced as our first permanent signing, cries of "Here we go, planning for the championship with Huws cheap purchases".

Garry offered two year contract on 21:52 - May 3 with 1831 views | magicdaps10 | We will probably go back to getting talented young British players or British based players who have not really clicked at club they are at ala routledge and Dyer thrown in with a foreign player with potential such as Jefferson Montero hopefully. I think that we got very lucky in getting a good player in Boy for 12m, spending that sort of money on a player never guarantees you a great player and a club like Swansea could not afford to get a 12m lemon, im sure if we were guaranteed a 12m Bony very season then the board would sanction two 12m sigings a year.

Totally agree with you magicdaps. We need to out quite a lot of players and get in quite a few with "fight" in them who won't easily be knocked off the ball. Garry Monk has had to work with the players he's inherited, but from now on will be able to mould his own side with new players. The board have done an excellent job over the past 10 years or so and are far closer to the situation than us mere mortals and I will continue to trust that they have made the right decision for the club... and if they haven't then they will react accordingly as and when appropriate.
Garry offered two year contract on 21:59 - May 3 with 1772 views | AngelRangelQS | In some ways I'm glad we're going back to trying to be slightly different. I guess the decision was to appoint someone the board have faith in, who has pride in what he's done for the club and who knows exactly what we're all about. We could have appointed a 'big name' but there's no guarantees that will work out either. If he was still at his old club, people would be crying out for OGS and look at what he's done. I do hope Monk makes use of his relationship with Rodgers and Martinez. Good connections there if he uses them

Agree with that. I just think everyone goes over the top with all this attracting players stuff. We're just as likely to attract players as any other mid table premier league club.

Garry offered two year contract on 22:02 - May 3 with 1728 views | magicdaps10 | I personally believe that looking back at the season that we have missed the fight in certain games that sometimes the foreign lads don't have. Yes they are cultured and are assured on the ball but a player who can role his sleeves up was missing in many game................even Joey Allen would get stuck in when needed, players like DeGuzman, Hernandez, Pozuelo, Chico seem to lack that bite in their game.

To a certain extent absolutely. People bang on about contacts when it's mostly agents that are the movers and shakers in transfers these days. Can't hurt to find players we want before having to talk to them though.
