I happened to be at the Italy Switzerland R16 game in Berlin .
Italy were absolute shite but I was impressed by the Swiss - very well organized and coached a bit of pace up front and strong down the middle. Game was over in 50 odd mins and Italy knew it - so they will be well rested too.
My advice to Gareth : Don't give xhaka the time Italy did - absolutely ran the show and had so much time to pick a pass Attack down the wings where the swiss look weakest - Only joy Italy go was was here on the odd occasion they beat the press
Full on agree…Feels like we lucked out big time with Matti- taking over a big mess on the pitch and loads of change above him . Unlikely to be so lucky twice in a row.
Best scenario is. He stays at least this season and we continue some, seemingly good moves, off the pitch , get structures in place and are an upwardly mobile, more modern run club by the time we find the next Marti….. else it will be endless fire fighting. I ‘m tired of that!!
Would be nice to see rumours squashed though so we can concentrate on the transfer thread!
Hate what City have become but I do not think you can successfully regulate it the way it is In any walk of life these days the mega rich can do basically what they like and get away with it by weight of lawyers to overwhelm the FA or whoever maybe trying to enforce regs. I read in The Times article yesterday that so far City have dropped 25m on legal fees and have some of the highest powered briefs in the country on the books
I'd have let them all Pish off to a Super League where they can pay what they want, and do whatever deals they want , play other nation state/mega clubs every week. meanwhile reform English football with a regulator in place and reset...everyone a winner...instead we get death by a thousand cuts.

Believe the CEO was part of the getfootballnews network before joining us? The french and german editions are a pretty good read and appear quite plugged in
I like Chair but last 25 he was horrific- had a chance with about 20 left to shift the ball quickly out left a and instead slows it down and tries a flash chipped ball through. idiot.
