ahh...the crackling, that was something else...everyone asked for that.
yes david would always be in there helping out, think he went a bit downhill when george died, and maud eventually sold up.
another shame with bolts going as well, all us out the suttons, parents and grandparents used to shop in there. have'nt seen the son from bolts, think his name was john, for a couple of years now, often in the red lion and pineapple, acton, or the plough and harrow king street.
big queues on a friday, out onto the street. george doing the batter...maud wrapping and serving. the fish was superb....the chips crinkley and greasy, probably the same oil from when your grandparents had it back in the 20's.
what would you prefer as a snack...or an absolute full on meal.... or even after a night on the lash...
chinese indian fish and chips... kebab lebanese... pizza... italian.
any other.
for me.....after a drink.....always a pizza... after work on a friday....lebanese....houmas, falafel wrap, batta harra, chicken shwarma.
sunday....always a roast.
never beeen one for a kebab.... indian for me is after a qpr win on saturdays.... a chinese is for a draw.... and a couple of mothers ruin for a defeat....
it certainly was....went past latimer road station tuesday morning, 6am, from there to the maxilla, if anyone knows the area, they were loaded all along the pavement where the bin men had stacked them in little groups.....looked like a load of coloured meerkats.
