Yeah I’ve been thinking about that last point over the weekend. It doesn’t suit either party for this to all come out and he sticks around (not without some significant eating of humble pie by Nourry via some kind of interview with the two of them, which feels unlikely).

As a result, it feels like one way or another it’s already done (either to another club or parting without paying him off). In danger of giving them too much credit there, but even for us it feels incredibly dumb to manufacture a scenario where we’re forced to pay off a manager because of briefings we’ve put out. Gut feel is he’s got a job lined up (but that’s all it is).

Marti, stick or twist?
at 18:22 27 Apr 2025

Completely agree. WBA just sacked a club icon and a guy with a track record or doing well in this league for missing the play offs, I don’t think 12 without a win would last very long up there.

I love Marti, but look at what’s happened to all the other managers we’ve had since Neil - it’s not a who’s who of success. Good luck to him, feels like it has to happen now. If she’s openly flirting with all the other boys out there move on.

This eventuality (not sacked, not a resignation) is probably best for both parties at this point. It’s obviously gone sour and we’d be mad not to get some dough for him. All points to club leaking it imo

Not having this line that people trot out every time we lose badly under Marti; Ainsworth did not keep us up. The 30 ish points Beale accumulated before he set his career alight did.

Manager has got his team selection wrong two games in a row and it’s cost us. Fine. But how many instances of sacking a manager do we need to go through for people to realise *the manager is not the problem*.

In this era of our club - Warbs Beale Critchley Ainsworth Marti - we have had 5 very different styles and completely different recruitment approaches. You can assign players in this team to each manager - Chair Paal Fox Colback Madsen - and from that alone you can see the problem.

I don’t know if Nourry will fix it long term or not. But if you think the next guy will wave a magic wand and fix the issues of the last 7 years then it’s just futile going back and forth on these threads imo.

The ownership have been, are, and will be the problem at this football club until they go.

Possible next managers...

Liam Rosenior, on the verge of European qualification at cash flush Strasbourg (BlueCo owned, same scum that own the scum) being on a mid table Championship betting list is English football small mindedness to the greatest degree. I’m sure Liam would be absolutely jumping at a crap Championship job lads.

Cba to engage in the point of this thread, but that list is all the evidence needed to ignore betting sites as any kind of credible source of information.

To add to point above - I don’t think it’s about having a “specialist” rather someone you back to make a better go of it than a guy who has failed with an equally dominant champs team before (or in Redknapp’s case, just someone who frankly gives a f)

Probably unfair to paint Farke and Redknapp with the same brush here, granted. But if you have a long list of evidence telling you the guy isn’t up to it (whether that’s due to deficiencies at the top level, or his attitude/willingness to coach/being a general pig - can you guess which is Arry?) it’s not a mad call.

I’d wager Parker has one last chance to prove it next year, otherwise he goes on the pile with Farke as promotion winner survival loser.

If only we’d done the same with Redknapp. Board may well have still spaffed the money up the wall, but we’d have had much more hope without one knee Harry (really needed that surgery you know)

Marti on today's defeat
at 16:06 22 Apr 2025

I think part of the debate here (and my own quandary/curiousity) is about conflating 3 scenarios into 1:
A) CN/board sacks MC
B) MC walks (either of these could be clouded with a BS mutual consent line, see Wazza at Plymouth)
C) MC gets poached by another club

I don’t think C is really on the board or Nourry (and for what it’s worth I think it’s by far the most likely). He’d be mad not to take a parachute job or a Boro/Sunderland/Norwich or a richer foreign club in La Liga etc, and they’d pay his comp.

A or B though. That’s a death wish for the board. The anti Ruben/Christian memes will be out quicker than the next guy’s hair can turn grey.

Edit: Kensal wrote the exact point above, didn’t read the question etc etc.

I didn’t mean to say it’s definitive. Just that the prevailing view on here is that he seems likely to go. Just curious why this is the case and where the indications are coming from - these interviews don’t sound like someone walking out to me. If a better offer comes along that’s a different question, of course.

Morgan Fox: Stick or twist?
at 11:02 22 Apr 2025

Probably the easiest call in the squad (Andersen a close second). Can get a much better, fitter, and more valuable squad player on a free. We have 3 good, if regularly unfit, centre backs on our books who just need competent back up who can start 10-15 games a season and not cost us results. Fox does not satisfy that criteria, and based on his body language yesterday I think he knows it.

Some very sensible posters on here seem to think it’s a done deal that he’s gone. I’m genuinely curious to know why this seems to be a prevailing view? Answers provided without any ITK nonsense please (unless you are secretly Marti).

I’m struggling to get my head round it, only because of the underlying data in the championship (call me GPT Nourry if you like) that shows you very very few managers leave their job willingly (I.e., resign / truly agree a mutual exit), and missing the associated pay day that comes with the sack.

Promise this isn’t a flippant question I’m just curious why 80% of fans seem to think he’s gone when there’s very little by way of rumour other than Danny’s sister’s brothers boy spoke to his second cousin who told us he didn’t like CN.

Thought he was fantastic first half, and put himself about a bit too which is a pre requisite for this league/country so he is learning. You can tell at times he’s a few steps ahead of those around him in terms of vision and technique. There’s a player in there we just need to be patient (and stop with the 6”4 jokes, talking to myself there!).

Play the rest of the season, get a good pre season in and see where he can go next year.

Relaxed Rangers make their point against City – Report

Couldn’t agree more. I was certain before this one we would see a good showing. Sun out, pressure off, pleasant team of nice little technical boys in town (not you Sincs). Winning away at Oxford far more of a surprise than turning up for this one.

Nothing has changed for me - still very concerned at the direction we’re going in under the current (off the pitch) leadership.

One end of season podcast interview with the manager (preferably on a certain Patreon…) would quell so much chat. Madness that they (he) wont do it.

The season 25-26 squad thread
at 19:16 13 Apr 2025

On the DS point. I’m intrigued to see what they do at full back. With exactly 0 senior FBs in the squad right now who will be here next season, one or all of Esquerdinha Larkeche and Friel (Scottish boy we signed?) are gonna be in and around it.

Some pace and power at CB/FB would really help us play higher up the pitch when in the high press - which under Marti has been really effective but unsustainable (which I would say in part is because our back line hasn’t got the legs to execute a high line for any sustained period of time).

As others have said in the thread, despite our ST issues defence is the priority for me and if MC isn’t leaving I hope he gets a more mobile back line. When we get that high press right we look so much better for it, and as Wawll SW and Luton (pre’25) have showed it isn’t expensive to recruit for.

The stats lads at Opta agree (as do I). They give us a 99.98% chance of staying up.

Felt very hairy after Stoke but much like the boro game in November that seems like a bit of another turning point. Since then conceded very few chances and gone back to what worked through the winter.

I don’t know if you’ve seen the 6”4 non tackling, non heading CM - but you wanna give the guys who signed him to play against Millwall, Oxford, Portsmouth and the rest more money to waste?

An Eze sale would amount to the biggest get out of jail free card since the Zamora moment. We deserve that, the board and data god-child don’t.

I think that description of how the ownership run the club (a plaything for rich boys) can be filed under “not serious”

Never mind another football club, any serious multi million pound business (that has struggled for a decade) does not hire a 28 year old with no relevant experience as their CEO and Managing Director. But these owners are not capable of running a serious football club. It’s as simple as that.

They were all poor. But that was an all timer from Fox. One of the worst CB performances I can remember since…his last all timer in wales.
