Agree that there are only two realistic winners, and I’m torn. Usually Labour but I’m not exactly won over by them this campaign.

Fair enough. It’s been a while since we had a good old debate on here! Who’re you voting for?

And thanks for everyone’s clarification.

The Labour candidate makes note in his campaign leaflet of being a lifelong Dale fan. Has anyone seen him/spoken to him at a match or is just politician rhetoric?

EEL Stays
at 14:33 8 Jun 2024

There’s a lot of talk on here about him not being a playmaker, not contributing to attacks, etc. I disagree. I posted last season’s stats a few weeks ago but it’s worth repeating now:

John 0G, 2A
Gordon 0, 1
Nevett 0, 1
Armstrong 0, 1
Ferguson 0, 0
Oduroh 1, 0
EEL 3, 3
Keohane 7, 6

So, apart from Keohane who’s often played in midfield, he’s far and away our most productive defender. For all the praise given to Nevett for his passing, I actually think Ebanks-Lansdell is better at it. He’s also won a penalty, and we have the highest amount of clean sheets (9) with him in the team.

He might struggle when under pressure trying to pass it around the back, but his long passes are usually very effective. He did a pass like the below most games.

The email isn’t changing anything. I’ve voted four times with the same email address without problem (just to see if it would let me). It’s very easy for other fans to hijack a vote like this. The question is, who would be sad enough to?!

Not to mention that Fleetwood have the option of another year in their favour.

3 goals, 3 assists. Of our other defenders he fares well:

John 0G, 2A
Gordon 0, 1
Nevett 0, 1
Armstrong 0, 1
Ferguson 0, 0
Oduroh 1, 0
Keohane 7, 6

One thing I’m hopeful of now is that when clubs come sniffing around for the likes of Nevitt, we’ll now no longer be seen as ‘soft-touch Dale,’ and instead ‘billionaire-owned Dale.’ It doesn’t mean we have to go spending recklessly, but I’d hope this at least gives us a better platform to begin negotiations from. Whilst we’ve done very well from certain deals such as Dawson and Hogan, others have been woeful from an under-selling point of view.

I really enjoy hearing Jim speak, so I'd love to sit down with him and hear his thinking behind the decision to have SEVEN of our players stood on the six-yard line at goal kicks. I'm sure in that wise head of his there's a reason, but it seems absolutely wasteful and reckless to me.

I’m curious about the sarcastic response too. Your explanation seemed like the most obvious one to me as well!

Club Appeal Red Card..

Although I disagree that you’re being dramatic for the sake of it, I do think you’re overreacting somewhat. £500 is a paltry amount, all things considered, probably the equivalent of 2-3 days’ wages for just one of our players. Not to mention that it’s refunded if the appeal is won. I don’t think it will be successful, but that’s more because the FA will want to be seen siding with their officials rather than because of the appeal’s legitimacy.

I completely take your point about how it looks when just a few weeks ago we were allegedly weeks from liquidation, but I agree with Daleaholic’s point that we’re siding with our players when we think they’ve been wronged. I’d hate to think of football with players too afraid to attempt slide tackles for fear of being suspended, even when executed accurately.

Based on video evidence, yes. However, I’m not sure if there’s a fee to make an appeal, which may contribute to the decision.

We very nearly didn’t have a club to support yet we still sit in upper mid-table, and you’re ‘ashamed’? Blimey.

Building for next season

I’d be offering contracts to the following:

Keohane - really underrated player, and his versatility is so important. Doesn’t seem to be getting worse with age, either.
EEL - I think he’s done well this year but I imagine he’s one of the highest earners. If we can come to a compromise I’d like him to stay.
Sinclair - still an excellent option at this level.
Rodney - tough one. Brilliant when fit, but can we have faith that his illness is behind him? If he proves his health I imagine he’ll have offers from league clubs, but I’d hope he’d show us the same loyalty we’ve shown him this season.

I think Mellor’s out of contract in summer and, like ND said, I can imagine him ending up here. I’d definitely be willing to give him a chance on a 1-year deal.

None of the other loan players I’d be looking to keep (Hayes excepted, of course).

Does anybody have a list of the contract status of the whole squad? Chaff’s usually good for one!

I think we’re the only fanbase in the country who could be on the verge of being bought by a genuine billionaire and our first reactions aren’t ‘let’s buy our way up the leagues,’ but rather ‘let’s be sustainable.’ Heartening to see.
